We make every effort to maintain a full educational service, but on some occasions circumstances arise which lead to disruption. Schools may be affected by, for example, severe weather conditions, dislocation of transport, power failures or difficulties of fuel supply. In such cases we shall do all we can to let you know about the details of closure or re-opening. We shall keep you in touch by using letters, notices in local shops and community centres, announcements in local churches and announcements in the press and on local radio.

Summer Sun Care
During the summer term, we hope the weather will be kinder to us. We have been given access to use the Ralston Pavillion grounds for P.E. during term times please consider providing a hat and applying sun screen to your child on hot days, this will minimise the risks associated with exposure to the sun. for more information visit: www.sunsmart.org.uk
Guidelines for Wet weather
Wet Interval
All pupils are sent to the toilets and return to class where they may eat their snack and talk quietly or read. Pupils from Primary 7 are sent to help the younger classes, and support staff also supervise.
Wet Lunch Time
After school/packed lunches are finished, children are supervised in classrooms. The above arrangements are ONLY for children who stay for lunch. Children who go home for lunch should not return to school until 1pm.
Please note the following:
All of the above arrangements for wet weather are privileges which are not to be abused. As our weather can be unpredictable please ensure the children always come to school appropriately dressed (i.e. sensible footwear and hooded jacket are essential).
We very much regret that due to an acute lack of space in our school, we are not able to set aside a room for parents to use in wet weather. We know that it can be unpleasant waiting for the children in the rain. There are large shelters in the infant and main playground areas. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this causes.
To help us keep you informed it is important that you make sure we have the most up to date emergency contact information for your family.
Snowy & Icy Conditions
Pupils in P1 to P3 to follow cleared path to ramp in infant playground.
Pupils in P4 to P7 to follow cleared path to the main entrance of the school.
