Happy New Year everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful festive break. I would like to say a big thank you for your generous Christmas gifts and well wishes at the end of last term, it was really lovely.
Back to business! Homework and news are as follows:
Homework
Spelling– This week we will have a common word revision week. These are words that we commonly use and see in our writing and reading. Next week we will move on to Magic e words and continue our common words.
Reading- Reading books will be handed out this week. Running records will be carried out over the next couple of weeks to check reading levels. Please continue to ask your child questions about their text. Here are some ideas:
Who is your favourite character and why?
Did you like the ending of the book? Why?
Was there anything you would change about the book?
What did you like about the book?
What did you dislike about the book?
Did anything puzzle you about the book?
Word Walls will also be handed out this week; each child will be receiving a new wall but make sure they practice their older walls too. If your child needs an extra challenge, ask them to use some of their words in a sentence to practice comprehension.
Maths- The children will be practicing using the terms ‘one more’ and ‘one less’. Here is a link for a 100 square to help with the bigger numbers:
