Christmas Jumper Day

We had a great day today in Primary 2H. P6G came to our class in the morning to read Christmas stories that they had written and illustrated to us, and we also make our junk model robots in our topic groups. Then in the afternoon we had our Christmas party and a special visit from Santa! Here are some pictures from today.

Tomorrow: I spoke to the children todayaimg_2927 img_2928and since we have our party in the afternoon, we are inviting the P7s to join us with Read and Munch in the morning. If your child has a Christmas book, s/he could bring it in to share with a P7.

P5H – Reminder

Good evening everyone.  Please could you remember to bring in a plastic bag for Monday 19th December so that you can take some of your work home.

Also if anyone has a copy of the DVDs Rio or Rio 2, can you check if you are allowed to bring it into school so we can watch it on Tuesday 20th.

Thank you, see you on Monday.

Mrs Hughes.

What a great time we had this morning preparing, cooking and tasting our Brazilian dishes. I am absolutely delighted you enjoyed it so much.

Our class had the complicated task of preparing the tapiocas. I had prepared the clay -like  paste at home to make it a little easier to work with this morning. Can you explain to someone at home how the mixture started out?  Most of you had the chance to sieve the clay to make the mixture ready for cooking. It was quite hard work for some of you!  The tapiocas didn’t take too long to cook and you were soon tucking into them. They went down a treat! Tell someone at home how the mixture reacted to the heat from the stove.

You also had to prepare and cut up the mangoes. Again this was done very well and we had lots and lots to eat. This was the first time some of you had tasted mango and it was liked by all. Maybe you can try some at home too.

Chloe S and Innis were our photographers today and took many, many photographs. Please have a wee nosey at them.

This morning we had a fun-filled time preparing, cooking and tasting some Brazilian dishes. I am so pleased you enjoyed them so much that you wanted to try the dishes at home.

Please find below the links for both recipes. The main ingredients can be bought in a number of places however I purchased them in Holland & Barrett.  I have included the link for the tapioca flour and the recipe of how to make  them. There is a lot of preparation for the tapioca however, as you tasted today, they are well worth the effort. You may also wish to try the non-gluten free version. The recipe is just the same.

St Lucia Day/Nativity

Well done to everyone in our Nativity performance today.  Your singing was great.  Everyone played their part very well. Well done to those who sang on their own or in a little group.

This afternoon we were learning about Christmas in Sweden.  We found out that, like us in Scotland,  people have trees, decorate their houses and get presents but they get their presents on Christmas Eve.  We found out that today is St Lucia Day.

We hope you like our headbands and hats.

God Jul!

Our bird’s eye view of Earth

During our visit to the science centre, we learned about the Cupola, a special viewing station in the International Space Station that can show magnificent views of Earth. We used shading and tinting with black and white paint to create the different colours that can be seen from the Cupola and created our own bird’s eye view of Earth. Our paintings turned out fantastic!

Nativity Shows

Hi

We had fabulous dress rehearsals today and are looking forward to performing for family and friends this week.  Could we ask that children wear a polo shirt on the day of their performance as most of them found it far too difficult to deal with shirts and ties today!!

Thank you!

Christmas Jumper Day 2016 – Friday 16th December

CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY 2016

On Friday 16th December, we are inviting all pupils to take part in our annual Christmas Jumper Day in aid of Save the children. A donation for doing so would be much appreciated. All proceeds will be sent to Save the Children

Everyone will be invited to wear their silliest, sparkliest or cosiest Christmas jumper to school. If your child doesn’t have a festive sweater, don’t worry – it’s easy to decorate a plain jumper or top with tinsel, baubles or homemade snowflakes. Likewise, any hat will do! This will be a non-uniform day.

We’d really appreciate your help to make Christmas Jumper Day a huge success.

Visit to Glasgow Science Centre 8/12/16

We really enjoyed our visit to the science centre on Thursday! We were able to look around the centre and take part in the many scientific experiments going on! We also visited the planetarium and were shown the night sky and different planets by a real astronomer! We felt as if we were in space! We also watched a film in the imax theatre called ‘A Beautiful Planet’ which showed us around the International Space station and told us about the effects of climate change on Earth which can be seen from space! It was a perfect end to our space topic!

Homework 12.12.16 P4a

Hello everyone, Hope you had a lovely weekend here is this weeks homework📒. As its the last full week, we will be revising spelling in class and at home.
