Well done to Team Bishopton who managed to bring home some silver wear today at the Renfrewshire Road Race. There were great personal achievements as we finished first and second in both the P6 boys and girls races as well as an amazing first place in both the team events for the P6 boys and girls.
All of our p6 and p7 teams worked extremely hard in the wet conditions and cheered each other on to reach some podium positions.
Thank you to our friends and family who encouraged us all the way. What a great achievement that we will need to celebrate once we return from the September Weekend! Well done everyone!
The football team have been working hard at training and were rewarded with a great performance against Bargarran Primary at their new state of the art pitch.
It was a great end to end game and we would like to thank them for the warm welcome we received.
Bishopton Primary will be taking part in the Kit for Schools promotion.
From 6th September, Aldi’s Kit for Schools promotion is giving 20 primary schools the chance to win £20,000 to kick-start a health legacy for their school. What’s more, every school who enters by completing their Aldi’s Kit for Schools poster will also receive an exclusive school sports kit! Collect a sticker with every £30 spent in store and fill up your school’s poster for a chance to win.
Please send in any stickers with a pupil or directly to the school office.
Many thanks,
Bishopton Primary School Sport Committee.
Here is the rota for term one. Hopefully we manage to get some kinder weather in the weeks ahead.

It will either be P1-3 or P4-7.

Sadly, if it is raining you will miss your day.
Remember to put all litter in the bins provided. Have lots of fun but please keep up the Bishopton Standard.
The results are in and we are proud to announce that the HAWKS are the winners of Sports Day 2019.
Well done to all of the houses as this was the closest event in many years.
Thank you to all our wonderful helpers from Park Mains, Fraser our Active Schools Coordinator, Strathclyde Police and all of our partner agencies who made this day possible. Thank you to all of our supporters who cheered us on and to everyone who gave all of the events their Bishopton Best!
Primary 6 represented the school in the RENERS Cup at Renfrew Juniors last month due to Primary 7 being on their residential trip.
The squad played extremely well and our coach Tammy commented that the behaviour and sportsmanship shown by the boys was superb – they really gelled as a team and were great at supporting each other!
We would like to thank our coaches and supporters as we look forward to our league campaign next year.
Today at assembly we celebrated becoming a Cycling Friendly School by inviting Team GB athlete Luisa Steele to talk about her journey to elite cycling.
Luisa was raised locally and has volunteered and coached with Active Schools since leaving school in addition to competing for British Cycling’s Women’s Sprint Team . She told us of her journey and experiences and encouraged the pupils to try as many sports as possible.
Becoming a Cycling Friendly School is an achievement we are very proud of. Thank you to Mrs Ferguson, the committee and everyone who has taken part in helping us achieve this award.
The football team lost in an action packed game against Rashielea Primary. Both teams were desperate to win the final game of the league campaign and scored with some fine finishes but it would be Rashielea who took all points after a clinical first half.
Thank you to all the volunteers who make the league possible and give us a great opportunity to make new friends as part of the transition to secondary school.
Attached is the field and pitch rota for the rest of term 4. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us!

Well done to our Cross Country team who were fantastic as they raced against the rest of Renfrewshire at the On-X yesterday. We just missed out on a podium finish but are very proud of everyone as we gave it our all and even made friends along the way.

A massive thank you to all of our coaches who kept us fit, active and engaged over term three. We had clubs such as football, mini kickers, judo, dance, athletics, karate, chess and many more.
We will have our schedule for next term ready once we return from the Easter Holidays.
The football team scored some lovely goals in a well contested victory over Langbank Primary. It was very windy and at times wet but the team put in a great shift individually and collectively as a team. The goal of the game came from Langbank who scored from distance with a rocket shot! Thank you for the game and good luck in the final round of games.
The school football team were back in action today after the winter break. The team managed to produce some exciting football and maintain a clean sheet as we beat Inchinnan Primary.
Well done to the team who had an excellent attitude throughout and really worked for each other.
Good luck to Inchinnan for the rest of the season who never gave up!
Please register online for the classes. If you have any questions about the clubs, please contact Mr McAvoy or Fraser Buchan our Active Schools Coordinator.
The school football team played out an entertaining fixture against Barsail Primary with goals for both sides. Our opposition just edged the scoreline as we now stop for a winter break.
Well done to all teams so far and to the team who have enjoyed playing in our local league. We look forward to finishing the campaign in the new year.
The Sports Committee are delighted to announce that we have once again achieved our Gold SportScotland School Sport Award. We are one of only five Primary Schools in Renfrewshire and 284 across Scotland to achieve this accolade.
The school works hard to promote physical education, physical activity and sport and this is a great way to celebrate our successes.
We are delighted to open the field next week. Every pupil has the opportunity to visit the field on their assigned day but please remember to bring your field shoes to change into. Until the better weather, we will only be using the running track and football field.
The school football team played out an entertaining encounter against St Anne’s today. Both teams played some lovely football and there was some great goals scored with St Anne’s just shading the victory.
It was a very competitive game with handshakes all around after the final whistle. Well done to both teams!
Today we had the FIRST EVER Bishopton Primary School Skype Assembly. Pupils from each class came up to the gymhall and told us a little bit about what they have been up to throughout the week. This was played back live to each of the classrooms.
It was a fantastic experience and something we hope to do again in the future.
Well done for all your hard work during STEM Week. We definitely have future STEM practitioners in our ranks!
