Renfrewshire Road Race 2019

Well done to Team Bishopton who managed to bring home some silver wear today at the Renfrewshire Road Race. There were great personal achievements as we finished first and second in both the P6 boys and girls races as well as an amazing first place in both the team events for the P6 boys and girls.

All of our p6 and p7 teams worked extremely hard in the wet conditions and cheered each other on to reach some podium positions.

Thank you to our friends and family who encouraged us all the way. What a great achievement that we will need to celebrate once we return from the September Weekend! Well done everyone!

Aldi’s Kit for Schools

Bishopton Primary will be taking part in the Kit for Schools promotion.

From 6th September, Aldi’s Kit for Schools promotion is giving 20 primary schools the chance to win £20,000 to kick-start a health legacy for their school. What’s more, every school who enters by completing their Aldi’s Kit for Schools poster will also receive an exclusive school sports kit! Collect a sticker with every £30 spent in store and fill up your school’s poster for a chance to win.

Please send in any stickers with a pupil or directly to the school office.

Many thanks,
Bishopton Primary School Sport Committee.

Field and Pitch Rota Term 1

Here is the rota for term one. Hopefully we manage to get some kinder weather in the weeks ahead.

Rules

  • The field is only open during Lunchtimes.
  • Field shoes must be worn. If you do not have a change of shoes you cannot go down. P1 already have indoor shoes in their classroom however all other classes will need to bring in a change of shoes in for the field.
  • You can only access the field when it is your turn.
It will either be P1-3 or P4-7.
  • You can only access the pitch when it is your turn. Be careful as these days may be different. Every year group will get a turn.
  • Sadly, if it is raining you will miss your day.

Remember to put all litter in the bins provided. Have lots of fun but please keep up the Bishopton Standard.

Sports Day 2019

The results are  in and we are proud to announce that the HAWKS are the winners of Sports Day 2019.

Well done to all of the houses as this was the closest event in many years.

Thank you to all our wonderful helpers from Park Mains, Fraser our Active Schools Coordinator, Strathclyde Police and all of our partner agencies who made this day possible. Thank you to all of our supporters who cheered us on and to everyone who gave all of the events their Bishopton Best!

Reners Cup 2019

Primary 6 represented the school in the RENERS Cup at Renfrew Juniors last month due to Primary 7 being on their residential trip.

The squad played extremely well and our coach Tammy commented that the behaviour and sportsmanship shown by the boys was superb – they really gelled as a team and were great at supporting each other!

We would like to thank our coaches and supporters as we look forward to our league campaign next year.

Cycling Friendly School Celebration

Today at assembly we celebrated becoming a Cycling Friendly School by inviting Team GB athlete Luisa Steele to talk about her journey to elite cycling.

Luisa was raised locally and has volunteered and coached with Active Schools since leaving school in addition to competing for British Cycling’s Women’s Sprint Team . She told us of her journey and experiences and encouraged the pupils to try as many sports as possible.

Becoming a Cycling Friendly School is an achievement we are very proud of. Thank you to Mrs Ferguson, the committee and everyone who has taken part in helping us achieve this award.

Well Done!

Football Team Update

The football team lost in an action packed game against Rashielea Primary.  Both teams were desperate to win the final game of the league campaign and scored with some fine finishes but it would be Rashielea who took all points after a clinical first half.

Thank you to all the volunteers who make the league possible and give us a great opportunity to make new friends as part of the transition to secondary school.

Field and Pitch Rota

Attached is the field and pitch rota for the rest of term 4. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us!

Football team update

The football team scored some lovely goals in a well contested victory over Langbank Primary. It was very windy and at times wet but the team put in a great shift individually and collectively as a team. The goal of the game came from Langbank who scored from distance with a rocket shot! Thank you for the game and good luck in the final round of games.

Active Schools Block 2

Soccer Sevens

Today Bishopton Primary took two teams to Ferguslie as part of the Soccer Sevens qualifiers.

Team Blue competed in the P7 event and narrowly missed out on the play offs after some hard fought games.

Team Red competed in the P6 event and made the play-offs but sadly just missed out at the final hurdle against All Saints Primary.

Thank you to all of the spectators who came to cheer us on and to Bargarran Primary who we once again travelled with (and drew 0-0 with again!!!)

STEM Week Skype Assembly

Today we had the FIRST EVER Bishopton Primary School Skype Assembly. Pupils from each class came up to the gymhall and told us a little bit about what they have been up to throughout the week. This was played back live to each of the classrooms.

It was a fantastic experience and something we hope to do again in the future.

Well done for all your hard work during STEM Week. We definitely have future STEM practitioners in our ranks!
