P7S – Week beginning 13/3/17

Good Morning,

Here are your activities for the week ahead. If you have any problems, please let me know straight away.

Language

  • Spelling – Complete Unit/List 12 in your Spelling Homework jotters for Friday 17th March.

  • Personal Reading Challenge – Throughout the year, please read extra texts on top of the class novels. Record what you have read and complete the tasks on the Personal Reading Challenge sheet.
  • Reading New books will be given out tomorrow and should be completed for Friday 17/3/17.

Maths
Please use a variety of websites to enhance your mental agility. I am still looking for an improvement with our Big Maths Beat that Scores. Well done to those who met their target this week. This is an aspect of our learning which everyone could do with some improvement.

Topic

  • Please complete the WW2 Personal Research Task for the morning of Tuesday 14th March. Click here for the task and success criteria. Please bring any Powerpoints on a memory pen on Monday 13th or email them to my Glow account.
  • Please listen and practise the WW2 Songs we learnt in class. Click here for the Blog post.
  • Please learn your lines for the WW2 show on Tuesday 21st March.

Other

    • Drama – Monday and Tuesday 1.15-3.15pm – Please bring a full change of P.E. kit (a full t-shirt, shorts/tracksuit bottoms and indoor trainers).
    • Please bring in your costume in a bag with your name written on it. If you have any spare costume items to lend your peers, that would be very much appreciated. Click here to see what you need.
    • P.E. – Thursday 2.15-3.15pm.
  • Please return any forms A.S.A.P. (Parent/Pupil Response form).

 

  • We will be watching the film version of Goodnight Mister Tom on Friday 31st March. As it is a PG, we would appreciate if you would let us know if you do not wish your child to watch the film so we can arrange an alternative activity.

Primary 6/7 STEM Club

Today we looked at renewable energies and then created a wind powered car. The group were given the materials list and then creatively developed their models.

Here are some pictures of their fantastic work which was all completed over lunchtime.

The videos of the testing were too large to fit onto the website so I will share them at the next session.

  • – Reading and Maths tests on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th March – You will be completing these tests on Friday morning. Feel free to use the Maths links to practise the topics. Maths test: mental questions should show NO working, the other questions should have any working you need and then record the final answer in the space provided, then check, check and check again! The reading tests are the usual format: read the text, read the questions, read the text again to look for the answers, answer the questions, check your answers, make any changes, check your answers, check your answers, check your answers, check your answers, etc!!!
  • PE kit – We will have drama and Gymnastics on Tuesday.

P6/7 Lunch Time STEM Club

Today we started our lunch time STEM club. We will be looking at different aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths through group challenges.

Here are some pictures of our Spaghetti Bridge challenge. I think we will be looking at our adapting skills in the coming weeks. Also, a big thank you to Mrs Fisher for her help.
