As you will be aware roadworks have commenced  this morning on Greenock Road and are scheduled to last all week. The diversion is along Old Greenock Road past the school. As a result cones have been placed along Old Greenock Road indicating that this is a no waiting zone.

Please take notice of this and do not leave your car unattended as this will ensure the smooth movement of cars through the village while the works are taking place.

Our community police and wardens will be dropping by throughout the week to ensure that the traffic keeps moving and that our children are safe during this period of increased traffic on Old Greenock Road.  If walking to school is an option this week please do consider this.

Thank you for your patience and help in this as we try to ensure that everyone is safe on our roads this week.

Please note that tomorrow (31st August) is the deadline for returning your Flu Immunisation letter.

*Reminder- if you do not wish your child to receive this you still need to return the form, marking the relevant box and signing as appropriate.

NHS will be collecting the forms from the school office tomorrow. Thank you for your support in managing this.

A small number of additional tickets are available for the summer assemblies. Numbers are very limited so one additional ticket will be available on a first come first served basis from the school office.

The Parent Council still require a number of parent helpers for the P3-7 disco on Wednesday 6th June from 7.30-8.30 p.m.

If anyone is missing a bike from before the Easter Break, one has been handed in to the school office. A neighbour of the school put it in his garage to keep it safe during the holidays as it was left unattended in the school playground after we had stopped. The neighbour has only now returned from holiday and handed the bike into the school. If you think this might belong to you please contact the school office.

We are aware that there is a delay between the time the class teachers post to the blog and parents receive an email alert or a notification on twitter. The delay can be as much as 48 hours. Unfortunately this is not something we have control over. Therefore we would ask that in the meantime you access the school/class blog for the most up to date information.

We are also experiencing difficulties with the Bishopton Enquiries email address. If you need to make contact with the school office please phone rather than email for the time being.

We will update you when these issues have been resolved. Apologies in the meantime for the inconvenience.

Just a wee reminder that home baking for the Parent Council stall can be handed in to school tomorrow (Friday 16th June) or taken directly to the stall on the field on Saturday.

Design Competition

** Reminder designs were due by Friday 21st April. Late entries will be accepted on Monday 24th only. Please hand them in to the school office. The template can be downloaded from the link in this post.**

The Bishopton Week Group would like your help to design the front cover for this year’s Bishopton Day Programme. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Countries of the World’.

Bishopton Day is on Saturday 17th June this year. There will be music from Sambayabamba, circus skills, woodcarver, fire engines, inflatables, dancing display, football and rugby demonstrations and much more.

To enter the competition you need to draw your design in colour in the box on the back of this sheet and then return it to your school. The designs can be anything related to ‘Countries of the World’, and should be returned by Friday 21st April 2017. The winner will be contacted by telephone.

We look forward to seeing your designs.

Bishopton Day 2017 Prog Cover Design

With poor weather forecast here is a quick reminder of our procedures.  In snow and ice a path for  will be cleared from the pedestrian entrance on Old Greenock Road down through the playground. Pupils will be allowed into the building from 8.50 a.m., staffing levels permitting.

Updates regarding schools will be posted regularly on Renfrewshire Council website, social media feeds as well as local radio.

In the unlikely event of an early closure no pupil will be dismissed unless accompanied by a parent or appropriate emergency contact.

Please ensure that the office have up to date emergency contact information. If you have made any informal arrangements with other parents to collect your child in these circumstances please let the office know as we can only allow another adult to collect a child if we have the express permission of a parent.

The parent council are keen to hear the views of all parents/carers regarding their fundraising activities. Please help them out by taking the time to complete their short survey via the link below.  The survey should take no more than a few minutes to complete. Your assistance in this is greatly appreciated.

Our lost property has moved to the foyer inside the main entrance of the school.  This should allow parents to quickly locate any missing items when they are visiting the school office.

Lost property is once again accumulating very quickly this term. Please make sure that all items that your child brings to school are clearly labelled with their name. This makes it easier to return the items to their owner. Many of our children have the same or very similar items and without names we have no way of determining who they actually belong to. Please check the names on clothing regularly as names do fade in the wash.

We have a number of jackets in lost property at the moment and pictures are included in this post. We are also still trying to track down a blazer and a red school waterproof jacket that are missing. Both these items are labelled with names and we would appreciate it if you would check just in case your child has put on the wrong jacket at the end of a day.

Due to the high volume of lost property we will be clearing out on a regular basis so please contact the school as soon as you discover an item is missing.
