Well done to the classes who have qualified for the contest so far. I definitely know some pupils who have gone above and beyond and I see that they have been playing games before school – that’s dedication! The results for yesterday, day 6 are below. You have until 8pm tonight to take part. Try your best and have fun while practising your maths skills!
Thank you to everyone who has been promoting Maths Week at home. We have loved hearing about how the children are using maths and number at home. Thank you to those of you who have tweeted about when you last used your maths skills and posted photos of the maths in real life activities. Keep posting!
It is day five of the Sumdog contest but we have only been back at school for one day. Have a look at some real life data to see how our P2-7 classes are doing on the National Sumdog Contest.
So far we have 8 classes out of 21 classes who have qualified for the competition. Remember, at leasts 10 pupils per class need to play for your class to start climbing the leaderboard! Can you answer 1000 questions? The contest closes at 8pm on Thursday 3rd October. Try your best and have fun!

This year’s Maths Week Scotland is from Monday 30th September to Sunday 6th October. Although we are only in school Tuesday to Friday we hope you can help to support our love of maths and numeracy throughout the week. Renfrewshire’s theme is ‘real life maths’ so please talk to your child about when you use maths in your daily life. Every class will have their own fun way to celebrate and learn about maths but here are a few things to think about in advance:
We would appreciate if you could please provide your child with £1 to spend at the local Co-op. Your child’s teacher will be looking for adult helpers for the visits.
Tweet ‘I last used my maths skills to…’ using the @BishoptonPS #MWSREN #mathsweekscot
Take photos and tweet them to @BishoptonPS of your child using maths in their everyday lives.
Help you child to interview family and friends about how they use maths in the daily lives and their job. Think about number, pattern, shape, estimation, fractions, 2D and 3D shape, angles, direction, mapping, time (hours, timetables, calendars), measure, money, etc
Your child’s class will have their own maths homework task(s) that week and you will be reminded of these nearer the time, however I thought it would be good to know in advance. Thank you in advance for your co-operation and positive attitude towards maths and numeracy!
Your child should have been given a parent appointment letter today for you to choose your preferred day. Please complete and return this form A.S.A.P. Thank you in advance.
All pupils were issued with a letter from Sainsbury’s today about a competition to promote their launch on 27th September. The entries have to be completed at home and returned to school by Friday 20th September, not 23/10/19 as stated on the letter.
Could we please ask for all data forms to be returned A.S.A.P.? If you need a new copy, please contact your child’s teacher or the school office. Thank you in advance.
Fèis Phàislig which runs in partnership with the instrumental music service is starting a Gaelic choir on Monday 9th September at Castlehead High School. It is for young people aged 8-18 years with a passion for singing. Sessions are delivered in English and participants do not require a previous knowledge of Gaelic. The group will have the opportunity to compete in local and national competitions including the Royal National Mòd, as well as showcasing event throughout the year. Visit https://feisphaislig.com/ for more information.
Could I please ask for all flu vaccination forms to be completed and returned? It does not matter if your child is having the vaccination in school or not, we still require the forms to be completed and returned.
Please click the link below to view a letter regarding a new approach to spelling we are starting this August. You will find this printed on the reverse of your child’s Homework letter which should be with you soon if you have not already received it. Please do not hesistate to contact us if you have any queries.

Well done to all pupils who auditioned for the talent show. We had over 150 talented pupils who bravely showed their talent to judges over 8 lunchtime sessions. As usual the quality of talent on show was extremely high, however we can only put a certain amount forward.
Congratulations to those of you who got through to the Talent Shows on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th June. You should have received a note on Friday telling you if you made it. Please check with your group memebers if you are unsure.
Please bring in your costume and/or props on Monday. If your act requires music, please bring the clean version of the song in a CD or USB to Miss McDowall on Monday or Tuesday.Keep practising!
