Worded Problems 

  1. There are 427 children at Bishopton Primary School. 214 of them are girls. How many are boys?
  1. 45 apples were lying on the ground. If 9 children picked an equal number of apples, how many would each child have?
  1. Finlay went to Costcutters with his pocket money. He had £5.00 to spend. If he bought a magazine for £2.65, how much money would he have left?
  1. There are 24 children our class. If all of the children received a merit sticker every week, for 4 weeks, how many merit stickers would Mrs O’Neill need to hand out?
  1. Lucy is saving to buy some new ice skates. She has found the perfect pair which cost £55.00. Unfortunately she only has £36.50 saved. How much money does Lucy still need to buy the ice skates?
  1. We have 51 children in Primary 5 who take part in our Daily Mile sessions. If we were to buy each child a waterproof jacket, costing £10 per jacket, for these sessions, how much would we need to pay in total?
  1. Our class are crazy about Pokemon cards. Aiden has 132 cards, Ewan has 97 cards and Lucy has 112. How many cards is this altogether?
  1. In our class we have 6 groups. If we have a total of 48 felt pens between all of the groups, how many pens do each group have?
