Next week is the beginning of Maths Week Scotland. We have organised lots of activities in school to help promote Numeracy and Mathematics and show children that Maths is fun and everyone can ‘do’ Maths.
The children have been entered into the Sumdog National competition which runs from 8am Friday 8th September to 8pm Thursday 14th September. Your child should have been given their username and password (Primary 1s you will get yours on Monday). The children will be able to access the games in school but can also access at home. The children are competing against the whole country however our focus is to win within the cluster (surrounding schools).
The children will also take part in a Maths Art competition. They will complete their piece of artwork in class and then be entered into a competition within the cluster where there will be a P1-3, P4-5 and P6-7 winner. Winners will be announced Friday 15th September.
Our homework focus will be Maths all week although some classes may give out reading also (P1 will have handwriting).
All teachers and staff have arranged lots of fun activities within their classes – let’s rise to the challenge and think positively about Maths!
