As well as weekly maths homework, each month the children in P6 and 7 will be given an additional Maths Challenge to complete. They have the entire month to do it and will be rewarded with House Points. This will be collected on the last school day of the month.
For January the children have been given the following challenge:
Burns Supper Maths Challenge
We are going to be hosting a Burns Supper in school on January 25th. Your challenge is to plan and price a Burns supper for the local community.
Imagine you have 100 guests, you need to supply:
A hall (Large enough for 100 + dancing)
Feed them (Traditional Burns meal + any extras you want to include)
Supply them with drinks (Are they getting a wee dram o’ whiskey or just juice?)
Entertainment suitable to a supper (Think of a piper/ ceilidh band etc)
How much does each item cost and where are you getting these from?
If you were to charge for this event how much would each ticket have to cost to get your money back?
You can choose how to display your findings, perhaps and table or spreadsheet?
Good Luck!
