Short of Fertilizer

Some kids know what it’s like, 

to be short of money because of fertilizer. 

to be short of money because of diesel,  

to be short of money because of shearing equipment, 

to wait for the sun to rise so I can run my dogs, 

to wait for the lambs to be born, 

and stand up so I can spray their navel with iodine, 

to wish to drive the quad bike on the road, fast 

to wish to try tractors, 

and some kids don’t.
