An Old Book

I want to be a book
not a magazine not a newspaper,
just a book.

I want to be shut if not liked
not open for anyone to see.

I want to be an old book with
few people looking at me
but all admiring me.

I want to be loved for the qualities I have
and not criticized for the things I don’t have.

I want people to know how I am feeling
but not to much.

Don’t rip my pages

Don’t break my spine

Don’t buy me if you don’t want me
I will be sad if you can’t read me.

  1. I LOVE the images here, it’s deeply sad but quite profound. The spacing of the last lines is really powerful. I really love this poem!
