Solid Gold
I have not been to a field of tulips,
But I have been to Disneyland Paris, listening to childhood symphonies, meeting my childhood heroes, feeling dizzy as I rise and spin on the rides, glowing with happiness.
I have not been to the sea of stars,
But I have been to Northern Ireland, hearing friendly accents everywhere I go, visiting my family again, eating delicious food that Scotland doesn’t possess, drinking cup after cup of brown lemonade and gazing outside on the journey on the ferry.
I have not felt the touch of solid gold,
but I have felt the priceless love of my dogs, feeling their fur as they snuggle in close, feeling the joy when they come and the misery when they go.
