Linen and Jute Industry in Coupar Angus

Earlier this school session primary 6 and primary 7 children studied the linen and jute industry in Coupar Angus. We grew our flax. The children learned how the flax plan was used to make linen and had a go at spinning and weaving. The children visited Verdant Works in Dundee to research how sacking is made from the jute plant. Artists from the Living Communities Project worked with them to creat two wall hangings celebrating their learning. These are now on display in the main hall. We are grateful to PoP, Maggie Langelaan, Ron Stephens and Alan Grant for the support they gave to the children throughout their studies.

Walking Breakfast

Approximately 150 children, parents, carers and siblings enjoyed the School’s first ever walking breakfast on Wednesday 15th January. The P7 IBike Crew organised the event with Simon Strain of Sustrans. They were on duty at the gates handing out tokens to eveyone who walked. In the hall helpers served tea, coffee, toast, yoghurt, fruit and cereal. The event was extremely well supported. The IBike Crew would like to thank all the School staff, parents and carers who helped make the event such a success. We are now planning a Fairtrade walking breakfast. More details soon.
