We said a fond farewell to Miss Ickeringill who is taking up another maternity cover post in Perth.   We wish her well.   Miss Gruneberg is preparing for her return to the school following her maternity leave and will return in June.   Miss Sinclair will be covering P4 until Miss Gruneberg returns.

Miss Whyte, ECP, now works full-time in the Nursery following Miss Campbell’s retiral.

Miss Pearson will be starting her maternity leave on 12 June.   Miss Whitelaw will cover P1P up to the end of term.

Miss Sandison wants to work part-time and will be taking up a part-time post on Monday 11 May at St Ninian’s School in Perth.   We are advertising for a new ASN teacher for TR1.

Mrs McCulloch has been promoted to Principal Teacher, Crathie School, Aberdeenshire.   She takes up her new post on 25 May.   Miss Cameron will cover P7 until her replacement is appointed.

We wish her well in this next stage in her career.

Retiral

Miss Cameron informed the children last week that she am retiring from her post as Head Teacher at Coupar Angus Primary School from 16 August 2015.

She said “I have really enjoyed my time at Coupar Angus and have seen many changes. It has been a privilege to work with such wonderful children and staff in such a supportive, inclusive local community. My post has been advertised and the Local Authority is confident they will appoint a new Head Teacher very soon.”

Coupar Angus Young Heritage Ambassadors

Living Communities and Coupar Angus Primary School have been working together for several years, exploring the rich heritage of Coupar Angus.

A Young Heritage Ambassadors group has recently been formed to develop these interests further, and participants will be working towards achieving a Dynamic Youth Award.

Dynamic Youth Awards are peer assessed awards recognising the contributions and achievements of young people in the 10 to 14 age group, externally verified and accredited by ASDAN.  As well as learning about local heritage, the Young Heritage Ambassadors develop skills such as interviewing, research and speaking in public.

UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award

On 19 March, two assessors from UNICEF’s Rights Respecting Schools Award visited our school.   They talked to staff, children, parents and community partners about the work we do,  I am delighted to inform you that they were very impressed with the children, our vision and values based on respect for self, others and the environment, the involvement of children in decision making and our willingness to take action on local and global issues.   They are recommending that we move from Level 1 up to Level 2 Rights Respecting Schools Award.

I would like to thank everybody for their hard work and in particular Mrs McCulloch and the children in the Rights Respecting Vertical Group.
