Mrs Ballantyne, a Music Specialist from Perth and Kinross Council, came to our class on three occasions this term, to teach the children different rhyming songs and how to keep to the beat.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves! Thank you Mrs Ballantyne!
The children were learning toĀ follow directions walking around the village, in particular left and right.
We used our hands and thinking how we write, in order to turnĀ left and right correctly.
Walking around the village, we saw where some of us lived and learned about some of the houses and roads in Braco. We will learn more about these in the future.
P1/2 were joined by Nursery today to be entertained by Zoolab.
Alex showed the children many animals from the Rainforest.Ā Some of the creatures that the childrenĀ had the fortune to see and hold were the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach,Ā a Giant Millipede, the Giant African Snail, a Chilean Tarantula,Ā a Tree frog, a Crested Gecko, a Corn Snake and Rats!
This week was Maths Week for the whole school. This meant there was a particular focus on Numeracy and Maths.
In P1/2, in Soft Play, the children played a number of games with a Maths link such as Snakes and Ladders and Connect Four.
We linked our PE to NumeracyĀ and Maths.
We did a couple of orienteering exercises where the children were learning to read maps, follow routes in a numbered plan,Ā recogniseĀ shapes and score using mental addition.
The children also practised number recognition, addition and subtraction facts through racing games.
In the forest, P 1 and 2Ā were making numbers in different ways.
