Road Safety and Book Week
This week P1/2 have been doing a number of activities to help them keep safe on the roads. Soft play had a road safety theme too including a road safety game, practising on a toy zebra crossing and cutting out bright clothing to be seen.
The children were out at the zebra crossing practising Think,Stop, Look and Listen and the Green Cross Code to help them cross the road safely. They then had to peer assess each other on how well they did. We then went for a little walk to look at safe places to cross the road.
In PE, the children acted out different vehicles and also had to listen for traffic noises and stop when they heard them.
For Book Week, the children listened to five book stories (The P1/2 books which they received today). They learned how to write a book review on their favourite book today.
P2 listened to the P1 reading and today the class went upstairs to the P3/4/5 class who read them storybooks too. The class also went to the mobile library today.
Most of the story books, which were read to the children this week, had words in them that rhymed. In co-operative groups the children had to find words that rhymed too.
The children have enjoyed this week. Â I heard, today was the third best day ever (probably beaten by party days!)
More Pictures!
A few more pictures to show some of the Learning we have been doing this term.

Soft Play
The children have enjoyed learning about the Olympics through play. They know this as Soft Play and this takes place first thing in the morning.
The children have been dressing up as athletes, making diving pools and bicycles with construction materials, playing Olympic games on the Wii, having swimming races and sailing races in the water tray and playing different games such as jigsaw and Trumps to do with the Olympics too.
They are all learning the skill of working with others.

P1/2/3 Get Together – Space
P1/2/3 told everyone about their learning this term on Space.
This included facts about the Moon, Sun and Planets. They demonstrated a mnemonic to help you learn the order of the Planets from the Sun and read out one of their own mnemonics.
The children demonstrated Orbits and how Day and Night works. They showed their artwork and talked about Tim Peake and life on the ISS.Â
Thank you to all the parents who came along to our Get Together.

Mrs Allardyce Visits
On Wednesday we had the pleasure of Mrs Allardyce visiting our class.
This term our topic in Health has been Medicines and Safety with these. Mrs Allardyce kindly talked about this and the different medication available.
The children got to try inhalers, use syringes, pretend giving injections and looking at different medicines. (No medication was involved)
Thank you Mrs Allardyce!
