Today in the Learning Zone these four boys worked as a team to build an impressive submarine all on their own.
They read the instructions, decided what to make, listened to each other and talked through their ideas with each other.
Just a reminder that ‘Meet the Teacher’ is being held in school this Thursday (19th September) .
This is an informal occasion and a chance for you to come along and see your child’s classroom, meet myself and look at some of the resources and activities we do in p1/2.
There will be two drop in sessions:

This weeks book of the week has been ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle .
Today we had a ‘Hungry Caterpillar’ afternoon where we did lots of activities linked to the story.
We listened to the story on CD whilst using the story props to act it out.
In maths we have been learning about symmetry and patterns so we each created our very own Hungry Caterpillar using a colour or shape pattern.
We used the different pattern activities and played pattern games on the computer with a partner.
Our favourite game was the Hungry Caterpillar domino set. We played in groups of 4.
While we were using the different activities Mrs Watson called us over in groups to make our own symmetrical butterfly. We have been learning all about symmetry in maths. We used the paint on one side of the butterfly and then folded it over to make it symmetrical.
What a fun afternoon!

This super girl has been busy writing her very own book, ‘The Adventure Girl’.
On each visit to the Learning Zone she added a bit more to the book.
Today she finished it and placed it in the class library for everyone to read.
