Today in Primary 4! :)

In the open kitchen we made and prepared a fruit salad. This is the perfect snack to help us get our 5-a-day in such a colourful way.Β  We practised using our practical skills such as peeling and chopping. Everyone got to enjoy tasting apples, bananas, green grapes, red grapes, oranges and strawberries. YUM!

Lucy’s Blue Day & Dance

Today, we were delighted to have a visit from the author Chris Duke, who talked about his book, β€œLucy’s Blue Day”.
We learned about how different emotions affect us and that it’s ok to feel β€˜Blue.’ Some of us got to meet Chris and have our books signed! πŸ˜ƒπŸ“šΒ

This afternoon, everyone took part in Social Dancing during PE. We have learned 3 dances so far to our Scottish music and with increasing confidence, we can demonstrate the correct steps in time with the music. 🎢

REMINDER: The first week of homework is due in this Monday. Please remember to keep all items in the polypocket to prevent damage. Thank you!

Art – Shading

This afternoon in Art, we have been learning to use the technique of shading. We focused on using the correct grip with short strokes and varied pressure control. Some of us found it was more challenging to use light pressure but everyone demonstrated smooth shades with no gaps. It was also great fun using smudging to blend together the pencil lines. Well done!

Our next step is understanding light and shadow when shading in our images. πŸ™‚

A Few Things From Primary 4!

In Maths, we have been learning to solve formal written calculations in addition.
Top Tips: when you add your two digits together in a column and your answer is more than ten, you record the units digit and carry the 1 (Tens) to the left column.

Remember: to add on the 1 (Tens) that you carry over.

Primary 4 Homework

Today the class were introduced to the homework grid for this term.

Pupils should complete one homework task each week and hand in on a Monday. This should be checked and signed by an adult.

Homework should be completed in the Homework jotter, unless a sheet has been provided. If you would prefer to create on a computer, e.g. Burns menu, that is fine, too.

Class dojos and house points will be awarded for all completed pieces of homework. Thank you.

Today we focused on using a variety of connectives to make our sentences/ writing more interesting to the reader. We all agreed that writing becomes boring to read when we use ‘and’ too often.

At the end of the lesson we gave feedback on which connective we felt better about using and gave examples of using them in our own sentences. Our next step is using more complex connectives to link two parts of sentences together accurately.
