P4/5 A Few Things…

This week our class have been very busy learning to be reporters. First we gathered notes from Chapter 11 of Charlie and the chocolate Factory. Next we organised these into the main events and created our own success criteria checklist. After that we edited to up-level our vocabulary and check for VCOP.  Finally we created a wonderful newspaper report based on Charlie finding the final fifth ticket!

Look out for our drama photos, coming soon! 🙂

Primary 4/5 have also been practising their Badminton skills by demonstrating: gripping technique, hand-eye co-ordination,  positioning, upwards swinging action and serving the shuttlecock diagonally over to their opponents court. Our next steps are using more space and using more force and speed.

On Wednesday Primary 4 & 5 enjoyed some Snowball Madness. We enjoyed having our Snowball fight, a hot dog, snack, drink and a film to watch also.

Kung Hei Fat Choi! This week we have been extremely excited learning about Chinese New Year – it is Year of the Pig. Did you know: The Year of the Pig won’t come around for until 2031, that’s another 12 years away!

Our class have learned a lot about: Chinese traditions, horoscopes, traits, read wonderful stories, painted in Chinese and created wonderful colourful dragons.

Today we completed our week of Chinese New Years activities with having fun in our kitchen. We prepared and cooked Chinese Sweet Chilli / Hoisin and Plum Stir Fry and Noodles. Everyone demonstrated good practical skills using washing, chopping, peeling and grating.

Have a wonderful long weekend and I will see you fresh and bright for learning on Thursday morning 9am. 🙂

Marvellous Maths P4/5

Welcome back to the first school week of 2019!

Primary 4/5 have been kick-started the new year with marvellous maths: position and movement. We have been learning to use a compass to find 4 or 8 compass points.

Everyone can give, follow and record directions for journeys. Well done! It has been great fun creating paths on squared paper and giving out directions. We even got to blindfold our friends and direct them to their prize.

Recently, we applied our directional learning when using Beebots and programming a character on our computer program. Well done boys and girls!

Reminder: Our PE days are Tuesdays and Fridays. Please bring your full kit and a water bottle that can be refilled.

P5 Party & Panto

This afternoon the Primary 5’s enjoyed their cracking Christmas Party! The children danced their socks off, played exciting games and enjoyed lots of tasty snacks and treats.  Check out our moves… 🙂

P4/5 Football, Baking & Parents Night

This week Primary 4/5 enjoyed their first football session with their coach from Clyde F.C He will be with us for the next four Tuesday’s, teaching us football skills. This week’s focus was passing and observational skills.

On Wednesday, we had the opportunity in the kitchen to bake ‘Halloween Cupcakes.’ First, we measured and emptied the ingredients into a large bowl. Next we whisked the mixture then spooned into the cases. After that, we baked for 22 minutes and left them to cool. Finally we decorated them and enjoyed them in the afternoon at our party! 🙂

Last night was our Parents Evening and it was lovely to speak with all of the parents regarding their child’s learning and next steps.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

See you on Monday morning! 🙂
