Today in Primary 4

On a Wednesday, we love to have our coach during PE time for Badminton.

Claire also came to visit today and we took part in an African music lesson that focused on using sticks and movement in time with the rhythm.

More โ€˜Snowman Mugsโ€™ were completed for the Christmas Fayre on Saturday. We are all starting to get very excited! ๐Ÿ™‚

A huge well done to IP for being awarded ‘Chief Scouts Bronze Award. We are all very proud of your hard work!

Today in Primary 4

Today has been a busy Friday; we have been carrying out assessments in Literacy and finishing off tasks. Everyone is enjoying the new seating layout in the classroom. Each row has designed a group name and the winning design was chosen to go on display. We are now: The Megalodons, The Screamin’ Monkeys, The Little Kid Group and The Pink Piggies. Well done!

This afternoon we took part in an active assembly, enjoying a variety of fun activities.

A HUGE well done to our ‘Star Performer’ GA who won Best Group Dance recently.

Today in ICT…

Today in ICT Primary 4 enjoyed learning to develop their word processing skills. It was fantastic fun using Digi Puzzles and our favourite games to help us learn are: ‘Flags of the World’, ‘Laser Typing’, ‘Fruitpirate Typing’ and ‘Fire Typing’. Also, ‘Typing fast like a Rocket’ helps us to improve our typing accuracy and speed.

“Fire Typing is all about timing how fast I type my letters and numbers. It is amazing!” SS

“Flags of the World is all about guessing the flag of the country first then if you don’t get it on time the name comes up and I can type it correctly. It is brilliant!” ED

Children In Need 2019!

Primary 4 had a fun day today doing lots of exciting activities to help raise money for Children In Need. Some of us got to: paint Pudsey, go on a Pudsey hunt, make and eat a Pudsey biscuit, make up a Pudsey dance, make a Pudsey rap and use the i-pads to create a stop motion picture. It was fantastic!

Here are some of the boys and girls P1-4 enjoying Dance…

P4 Nativity and Sumdog Contest

Primary 4 have been reminded to take home their Nativity song words to practise as part of homework. We will be using these every day next week – it is important children know the lyrics to be able to split into singing groups to fit the songs melody. We are doing great so far!

Also, the North Lanarkshire Sumdog contest opened today and a minimum of 10 playersย  take part for our class to enter the leader board. It is free to enter – simply take part by playing maths games for fun on your account. We will check the leader board again on Monday.

Reminder: In your child’s bag there is a letter regarding ‘The School App’ for parents and important information about it too.

Have a lovely weekend everyone! ๐Ÿ™‚

Primary 4 Homework

Primary 4 have been given their nativity song words to learn for this weekโ€™s homework. A copy of the lyrics have been given out and should be in your childโ€™s bag. This is the perfect opportunity to learn the words off by heart before we begin to add action and movement.

Our first song to sing is โ€˜Gospel Angelsโ€™ and you can sing along by clicking on the link:

Click ‘Listen to Songs’ > ‘Gospel Angels’

Our second song to sing is โ€˜Gabrielโ€™s Gospel’ and you can sing along by clicking on the link:

Happy Singing! ๐Ÿ™‚

This week in Primary 4

This week, Primary 4 have been using their learning ladders to reflect on their progress in Term 1. We have identified: what we have done well, what we need more practise and what we plan to do to improve next time. It is nice to take time to reflect on our success!

On Wednesday, we thoroughly enjoyed having our basketball coach during PE time. This week our focus has been defending.

Our top tips are:

  • You cannot just hold the ball and run
  • Try to block your opponent
  • Move around on the court

On Thursday, we started to plan our recount of STEM week. Planning helps us to: bring ideas together, plan the flow of our writing and identify VCOP that will make our writing interesting to read. Our next step is writing in paragraphs.

Here we are doing think, pair, shareโ€ฆ
