Can I also say a HUGE congratulations to everyone in our class for their excellent effort in this week’s Maths Sumdog Scotland Challenge. 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Microsoft Teams πŸ’œ

Today we have been learning how to use Microsoft Teams. We have been learning all about the assignments that are created for us as homework next week, how to access these, how to upload them and hand in.

I am looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful work next week. πŸ‘πŸΌ

Clever Comprehension! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Today we were working on our comprehension skills. It has been great to explore a new text on Bug Club. We used our knowledge of the alphabet to improve our dictionary skills, find the meaning of tricky words and answered questions about the text.

🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 πŸ† Maths Week Scotland Sumdog Contest πŸ† 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Let’s get as many players from P4 involved as possible! πŸ‘πŸΌ

How it works
To take part, students simply play Sumdog’s maths games.
Scores are based on accuracy, and questions tailored to each student’s level – so everyone has a fair chance.

Each contest runs from 8am local time Friday to 8pm the following Thursday – but you can play at any time during this period there will be rewards for students.

As a reward for taking part, each student who answers 100 questions will receive an item for their Sumdog House.

The contest will run from 25th September until the 1st October.

Good Luck!

Macmillan Mile πŸ’š

This year we are unable to have our normal Macmillan coffee morning. Instead we all took part in the Macmillan March as part of our Daily Mile. πŸ˜ƒ

Everyone enjoyed creating flags and taking part. We walked a huge 6 laps around the school grounds to support this great cause. Marvellous Marching! πŸ’š

Terrific Tuesday πŸ˜ƒ

Today Primary 4 have worked incredibly hard during Maths to improve our numeracy skills. Some of us are working on 2/3/4 and even 5 digit numbers to develop a variety of Place Value skills. Our new favourite smartboard activity is to represent a number using the Power Maths drawing features. Well done boys and girls, magic Maths! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Our class have been using Bug Club texts to develop our comprehension strategies. Today we identified the main idea of the text and most important points from the beginning, middle and end of the story. After that we wrote our own summary using BME.

A huge well done to: AC, HB, AT, CW, LB, BJ, L-R H-H, JH & RA for using your own words and including great vocabulary. 🌟

πŸ’₯”I made my letters stand out by overlapping them.” RV

πŸ’₯”I used dots to create an effect that I loved.” CW

πŸ’₯”Next time I would like to try using contrasting colours to create the comic strip effect.” SM

Meet the Teacher πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸ«πŸ˜

Meet the Teacher

Hello everyone! I’m Mrs Maher and I’d like to welcome you all to Primary 4 here at Woodlands. 🌳

It’s been lovely to finally welcome the children back to school after what has been a challenging year for us all.Β  Due to Coronavirus, school is a little bit different just now; from entering and exiting the school from the blue gate, our one way system inside of the building, what the classroom looks like and how learning will take place this year. Despite this, I am sure we will all have a fantastic year! πŸ˜ƒ

Please keep your eye on the blog and The School App often to keep up-to-date with important information, homework, pupil achievements and current class learning. To best support your child at home, please engage with our Maths and Literacy resources on ActiveLearn and Sumdog via your child’s login. A variety of home learning activities are assigned throughout each term that are linked to class learning. This is the perfect opportunity to engage with your child, communicate and deepen their understanding. πŸ’¬

I hope this ‘Meet the Teacher’ video will answer any questions you may have and give you an insight into Primary 4 so far. Should you have any worries, please do not hesitate to get in touch via the blog underneath as ‘Comments.’ Hopefully, we will get the chance to meet in person soon. πŸ‘πŸΌ

Take care! 😊

Due to Coronavirus we have been saying not singing the words in our song to reinforce our learning of numbers. Why not try it out at home and have fun singing along: 🎡

This afternoon we logged on to Sumdog and Activelearn to develop our numeracy skills. I will be on Sumdog tonight to try and beat the class top score on Cannonball, Chef and Powerboat. Why not log in at home and see if you can improve yours! πŸ‘πŸΌ
