Finisher: READING – Read a book of your choice on Epic Books. There are so many exciting books to choose from!
Login > Students >Enter Class Code pmj9348 > Click on your avatar
When you search for a book that you like, click on the front cover to open it and read the first page. If there are too many tricky words, it’s not the best book for you. If there are just a few tricky words then this is a perfect read.
Tomorrow I will announce this week’s EPIC READERS!
Maths: Division by 2 – Halving💙
Warm-up Task: Doubles
Practise your skills of doubling and make links with the two times table and repeated addition:
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button
Main Activity – Division by 2, Halving
- I can share equally between 2.
Read each question carefully. Think about what it is asking you to do.
Share each given number by halving – sharing equally between 2. Make links here with the two times tables are your doubles.
Here is an example:
1.a. 8 divided by 2 = 4
(You could draw 8 dots/circles and split them into equal groups of 4 or make links with your 2 x table. 2 x 4 = 8)
2.a. 4 dividied by 2 = 2
(Make links with muliplication 2 x 2 = 4)
3.a. 10 divided by 2 = 5
(Make links with muliplication 2 x 5 = 10)
4.a. 14 divided by 2 = 7
(Make links with muliplication 2 x 7 = 14)
5.a. Half of ? = 5
(Make links with multiplication, 2 x 5 = 10)
Remember you can also draw out dots/ circles and draw around them to make equal group or use your 100-square to help you too.
Check over your answers and traffic-light your work.
