School Meals

Things will be a bit different when we return for the new school year. It is important that we follow strict procedures to keep everyone safe while there is still any risk of the coronavirus spreading again.

We are taking cash out of the process which will help reduce the spread of the virus.

For you to use the online payment service, you need to register with MyAccount, the simple and secure sign-in service for accessing online public services in Scotland. It provides people living in Scotland with the ability to set up an online account and use it – using a single user name and password to access a growing range of online public services.

A reminded that children moving from Primary 3 into Primary 4 no longer receive a free lunch. If you think you qualify for a free school meal or clothing grant you can apply using the following link.

The new lunch menu can be accessed from the link.

School Start 2020-21

We look forward to welcoming children back to school from this Wednesday.

Please read the attached document carefully, it contains all information for the safe return to school. Key points to note:
– Classes will form bubbles, children can interact with those in their class but will not cross over with those in other classes.
– Staggered start/finish as indicated in your letter in June.
– Children must enter through the coloured zone as indicated in June, no parents can enter the school grounds. Staff will be on hand at the gates to guide children.
– School uniform should be worn – if possible stick to polo/sweatshirt and school trousers/skirt.
– Limit items brought to school including bags as these will not be required. Bring a filled water bottle and snack/lunch.
– Teachers remain mostly unchanged, any changes will be indicated by text tomorrow.
– Nursery children should attend as per the dates given in June.

Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Uniform Bank

Below is information from the Cumbernauld and Kilsyth Uniform Bank

PRE-LOVED SCHOOL UNIFORM GIVEAWAY

In previous years, we’ve tried to support as many families as possible, and help re-use as many uniforms as we can, through uniform exchange and giveaway events.

If you are in need of a helping hand with school uniform this summer, please get in touch.

We have a range of pre-loved stock, from blazers and branded uniform/coats to trousers, skirts and shirts/blouses.

If we have the items you need, we’ll let you know and give you a time slot to collect (in early August).

Please submit what you need in the following format. Please DO NOT include the names of your children. We simply need size/age and gender (and school for branded items).

E.g. Grey jumpers x 2 – age 5-6 – girl

E.g. Cumbernauld Academy blazer – size 32 – girl

E.g. Westfield Primary tie

We are expecting a large volume of requests, so please give us time to process your request. We are providing this service in addition to our standard referral process.

Please note, if you are facing real hardship at the moment, you may wish to seek a referral through our standard process, and we are then able to provide everything your child needs for school, including school bag and shoes, with a mix of pre-loved and new items. Referrals can be made on your behalf by a range of organisations and professionals, including schools, social workers, health visitors, Citizens Advice, foodbanks and other charities such as One Parent Families Scotland.

Here is a link to the referral Form

NLC Return to School update

Today’s announcement from the Scottish Government outlines the plan to reopen all schools on a full time basis from August.

We are currently considering the practicalities and implications of this announcement and will await further clarification and guidance from government, particularly in relation to public health and scientific advice.

Our priority is the safety of our pupils and staff across our network of primary, secondary and ASN schools, as well as our early learning and childcare settings.

We understand that you will have questions, and as this news was only announced today, we will make further information available on how this impacts on our schools andfacilities in the coming days.

We are preparing for pupils to return full-time to school on 12 August and we will be working closely with our schools and partners, including our early years and childcare provision to establish our plans, which we will communicate as soon as we are in a position to.
