Rights Respecting School

Woodlands Primary School and Nursery class were the first North Lanarkshire School to have been awarded a level 2  Rights Respecting School.

UNICEF is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. In 1989, governments worldwide promised all children the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfil their potential.

Woodlands’ Primary staff and pupils are committed to building a sustainable ‘rights respecting environment’. Promoting the values and principles of the ‘United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child’ and use it to underpin our ethos and vision for improving our school.

We were the first North Lanarkshire school to be reaccredited at Gold Level (December 2018) and are looking forward to sharing our fantastic work and developing our rights respecting ethos.

Everyone involved in the school are respectful of each other and understand the responsibilities they have to one another and themselves.
