World of Wings

We had a special visitor today at assembly. Jo from World of Wings in Cumbernauld came along with a  to talk to the children all about this beautiful animal.

Not only did she do that, she brought along a FREE PASS FOR EVERY CHILD IN THE SCHOOL AND NURSERY! These have been sent home with the children tonight.

Thanks World Of Wings for such a kind and wonderful gift!

Woodlands Got Talent Auditions

A huge thank you to everyone who auditioned today-Mrs Thomson was really impressed by the high standard of all of the acts. We will announce the finalists at assembly tomorrow and put a post on this blog too. A huge thank you too to all of the parents and carers for all of their support in getting the children ready for these auditions by rehearsing with them at home-your continued support is greatly appreciated.

Woodlands Got Talent

The auditions will now be held in school this Thursday, the 28th January and NOT Tuesday as previously advertised.  This is one of my favourite events of the year and I can’t wait to see what wonderful routines they have been practising hard to produce! A big thank you to the parents of auditionees for all of your support in getting your child ready for their auditions.

UNICEF Kid Power Launch Event

What a wonderful morning we had today! We welcomed MSPs, members of UNICEF, members of the Education Department from North Lanarkshire Council and members of the Press Office to the launch of Kid Power in our school.

We have been privileged to have been chosen to take part in the pilot of Kid Power UK and were delighted to host this launch event today.

All of our visitors were very impressed with the children in P5/6 and P6/7 and how confidently they spoke about children’s rights. They also commented on the school as a whole and the positive feeling they picked up on upon entering our school.

Here are some photographs from the event:

We feel very proud of all of the children in our school and how hard they work to promote children’s rights in our school and community.

Please look out for mention of this event in the press , including radio, and keep checking out our twitter feed for up to date links and photographs.

Well done everyone!

We are all very excited about the UNICEF Kid Power launch the school is going to be hosting tomorrow! We are looking forward to welcoming representatives from UNICEF and North Lanarkshire Council and MSPs who are visiting to promote the wonderful Kid Power project that the  P5/6 and P6/7 pupils have been participating in. Members of the press will also be attending so look out for any press releases on the topic of the school and this event!

We feel really priviledged to be a part of this pilot project and honoured to be chosen as the launch school.
