Homework

  • Homework Policy currently being revised – session 22/23
It is recognised that homework is an important ingredient in the educational experiences provided for our pupils. It is widely accepted that continual learning takes place within and outwith school. Teaching staff wish to work with parents in supporting this learning in the home and community. Reading is a key skill in enabling your child to learn, and therefore high priority is placed on reading homework across all stages.
You can help your child develop his/her reading skills by trying to set aside a quiet time for reading. Asking your child questions about the text and showing an interest in what your child is reading at home all play an important part in motivating your child. Encouragement to read lots of different types of books and texts and giving your child praise for his/her efforts all help to lay the foundation for lifelong enjoyment of reading.
Education is continually evolving and changing to meet the ever increasing challenges provided by a technological driven society. This is reflected in the many different forms homework may take.
