Fire Safety Talk

Today the Firefighters at Bellshill Fire Station joined Primary 6 to talk to them about Fire Safety.  They showed us some video clips about how how quickly fires can spread and keeping safe in an emergency.  We also learned about the importance of testing smoke detectors regularly and also having a fire evacuation plan.  The important message we got today was:

Get out, Stay out and Phone the Fire Brigade out!

We even had a chance to look around the fire engine and the equipment it has on it.  We learned lots and some of the equipment was very heavy too.  Take a look at our pictures:

Philippines Typhoon Appeal

In order to support the millions of people who have been affected by the Typhoon in the Philippines, we would like to support the Philippines Typhoon Appeal.

We have decided to have a Onesie/Pajama day at school on Friday 29th November 2013.  For just £1, the children can come dressed in their onesie or pajamas to show their support to this important issue.  It’s also fine for the children to come in their casual clothes if they would prefer.

Please remember that this will be a normal school day, so the children will be going out to play at intervals.  If the weather is cold, it would be a good idea to wear something warm under their pajamas and consider what  they will wear outside.

You can find out more about the Philippine Typhoon Appeal and how the money they raise is being used at www.dec.org.uk

Considerate Car Parking

A number of visitors to our school require the use of the Disabled parking spaces at the bottom of the car park. We politely ask any drivers who do not hold a Blue Badge to use another area of the car park. This is particularly important at the end of the school day.

We also ask that those drivers who do hold a Blue Badge to display it prominently when parked in one of our marked bays.

Thank you for your consideration.

Bronze Awards

The majority of our pupils have earned their Bronze Award on the first week it was available which is a great achievement. We had a special fun afternoon today as a surprise for those children who have not lost any Golden time at all this year. All of the teachers planned fun activities such as dancing, painting, sport, pampering and lots more to say well done to the pupils for their excellent behaviour.

The certificates will be sent home soon – once the children have had an opportunity to show them off at assembly on Monday.

Christmas Lights Switch on

Christmas Lights Switch On 2013

Join Santa for a Christmas sing-along in a town centre near you

Christmas Tree

This November TCA are delighted to bring you the Christmas Lights Switch On along with a very special guest. The Christmas lights are being switched on across North Lanarkshire throughout November to bring festive cheer to the town centres during the Christmas shopping period.

This year Santa will be making a very special appearance and would love for you to help spread some festive cheer by joining him and his elves for a Christmas Sing-Along at each of the seven town centres across North Lanarkshire. The words to all of the festive songs will be displayed on a big screen so there’s no excuse not to join in!

He’s also bringing along his magic post box to let the children post their Christmas list. Make sure to include an address as Santa has promised to reply to each and every one!

Here’s when the lights will be switched on in your local town centre:

Fire Drill

What an exciting day it was at Tannochside today. The fire alarm rang during the lunch break and all of the boys and girls, and adults too, assembled on the pitch to wait for the fire engines to arrive and let us back in to the building.

The children were very quick at getting in to their correct places on the pitch and followed our fire drill plan perfectly.  Thanks you to all of the nursery parents and family members who also helped with the drill.
