‘Be Bright’ Fundraiser

Our pupils were simply sparkling as they dressed up for our ‘Be Bright’ fundraiser on November 5th. This event was so much fun and the teachers even got in on the act. ‘Be Bright’ day helped raise money for school funds (Thank You!) and it also helped reinforce an important road safety message to all of our pupils. Now that winter is officially here and the darker nights are upon us, it is important that our children can be clearly seen by cars and other road users. So the message from St. Patrick’s is loud and clear: ‘Be Bright, Be Seen!’

Bronze Awards

Our Golden Pathways have been a major success so far, helping to improve behaviour and also encouraging the children to work hard to earn their 30 minutes ‘Golden Time’ each week. Last Friday saw our children reach their first milestone and they were delighted when they were presented with their Bronze Award certificates. Well done everyone!

Quiz 2015!

On the 12th of March, four P7s took part in the annual St. Andrew’s Shotts quiz.

Morgan, Alex, Alyssa & Ryan were chosen to represent the school. They were asked questions about: expressive arts, technology, science, numeracy, health & wellbeing & religious education, They went up against four other schools and placed 2nd – beaten by half a point!

Well done to the four people who participated and tried their hardest! We are very proud!

Healthy Fun

We had a lot of fun last week being healthy. The boys and girls had the opportunity to experience a wide range of sports including: boxing, dancing, rugby, golf and tae kwon do.

As well as trying new sports there was the opportunity to try lots of different kinds of fruit juices too in the Healthy Cafe set-up by the Health Committee. The Primary 7s worked together to make some mouth-watering smoothies. They were delicious!

Being healthy was a big focus in class too. Classes looked closely at how they can look after themselves and others. They learned about what it is to have a balanced diet. The Heartstart programme was also undertaken at each stage and each child learned how to look after someone in various emergency situations. The P7s will also be trained in CPR this week.

All in all a very busy week indeed!
