P6/7 Football League

A very talented group of Primary 6 and Primary 7 boys have been selected to represent our school football team in the ‘Shotts Cluster League’ which is a 7-aside football event held every Friday at Calderhead High School for local primary schools. The boys have performed at a very high standard so far and have represented the school very well. They have shown great enthusiasm and displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout.

Primary 7

Primary 7 are delighted to be back in school! We are looking forward to a very busy and extremely quick final year at St. Patrick’s before heading on to high school. We are particularly excited about the upcoming trips to Kilbowie and London. This term, we are reading the fantastic novel, ‘An Elephant in the Garden’ by Michael Morpurgo and the topic we are studying is Space. We are looking forward to sharing, with you, our learning journey.

Quiz 2015!

On the 12th of March, four P7s took part in the annual St. Andrew’s Shotts quiz.

Morgan, Alex, Alyssa & Ryan were chosen to represent the school. They were asked questions about: expressive arts, technology, science, numeracy, health & wellbeing & religious education, They went up against four other schools and placed 2nd – beaten by half a point!

Well done to the four people who participated and tried their hardest! We are very proud!

On January the 18th P7s from Room 13 and 14 were presented with  a challenge from St. Aidan’s High School, Wishaw. The challenge was to build a wind turbine out of K-Nex materials. The P7s had to go into eight groups and worked together to create a strong turbine tower. Once all the groups had made their turbines one group would be chosen to go to St. Aidan’s High School to compete against other local schools from North Lanarkshire in May. The final winner was Summit – well done guys!

Clyde In Room 13

Room 13 are getting 200 brown trout to take care of for their topic Clyde in the Classroom. The fish have to be kept between 1-10 degrees celsius. They arrived in the classroom with their own food to be fed and water tank. Room 13 will be caring for them from the little eggs they are right now until they are big enough to be let out into the River Clyde. Room 13 are so excited!

Athletic Festival Fun!

In January 2015, the boys and girls from primary 6/7 s went all the way to Ravenscraig in Motherwell to compete in the finals of the North Lanarkshire Athletic Festival, which they had got through to in December 2014. The final events included: running,  jumping, races, and a lot of hard challenges. It was great fun but unfortunately we didn’t place. It didn’t stop us having fun though.
