Sharing Success in Primary 4S

We were delighted in our class today because a member of our class was so keen to share news of his success within Tae Kwon Do.

At the weekend he had received a fabulous trophy but what we were really delighted about was the fact that he received it for perseverance. As a result of this we had a class discussion about perserverance as some members of our clss didn’t know what this meant. We all agreed that it was very important to persevere when learning new skills or knowledge, especially when we find it very challenging.

S1 Visit

Our week started with a visit from Mrs Mullen from Chryston High and some former pupils who came to speak to our P7 pupils. We learned lots of interesting, and useful, facts about life in first year and our pupils got to ask lots of questions about the transition process.

Many thanks to our visitors, it was great to welcome you back to Stepps Primary.

Creating Young Engineers

Our Primary 6 K’Nex After School Club is now underway! Our budding engineers have already successfully completed the first four K’Nex Challenges. They have learned about the importance of triangles in creating strong and stable structures, as well as creating a range of 2D and 3D shapes. Our young engineers have created a basic bridge structure and explored different ways to strengthen their structure.

Recording Artists

Our P7 pupils had a great time on Thursday 18th January working with Reeltime Music to record the song they have composed for the Youth Music Initiative project. The children helped compose the music, write the lyrics and also worked together to design the cover for their CD. We are looking forward to hearing the finished product.

P3M Snow Writing

P3M had a wonderful time taking our mental maths and spelling out into the snow. We had a beautiful blank canvas to start our work on. We also explored the different sounds that we hear when there is snow on the ground.

We Love the Snow!

P3/2 had a great time today exploring the snow. After practising our spellings by writing them in the snow, we had a great time playing in the snow. We can’t understand why all the adults are complaining about the snow, we love it!

Fun in the Snow

All the boys and girls in Primary 4S  had been looking longingly at the beautiful blanket of snow that covered our playground today.

So… eventually we decided to brave it and go out and have some fun. We had a competition to see who could make a snowperson. We had to get into small groups and work together as a team. Some of the snow bodies were very hard to move and it took 4 pupils to move them.  After we had made our snow people some pupils decided that they would make snow angels. We did get very cold but it was worth it..

And now our playground doesn’t look so pretty anymore!!

Wizard of Oz by Hopscotch

WOW! What a way to end the term!! The theatre company Hopscotch came in to perform for us. We spent the afternoon being entertained. They performed the Wizard of Oz. The wicked witch of the East was very scary!! But Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion and the Scarecrow were very nice.
