Primary 1 PE

In Primary 1 we have been learning about gross motor skills such as throwing and catching as well as balancing and hand eye coordination. To do this we have been using balloons. It was great fun and also helps develop useful skills. With all three P1 classes, only one balloon popped. I count that a success!!

Great work P1!

PE Athletics

Most classes have been learning different athletics skills during PE times. We have been working on javelin, shot putt, distance running, sprinting, hurdles and long jump. These skills will help with Sports Day which is approaching on Friday 15th June.

p4-7 9.30am-11.00am

p1-3 1.15pm-2.45pm

Good Luck everyone. Hope all the practise pays off and the weather is on our side!

JRSO Success!

Well done to our fantastic Junior Road Safety Officers  who have been declared the winners of North Lanarkshire’s 2018 JRSO Safety Campaign of the Year.

Our JRSOs planned a series of events to promote European Day Without A Road Accident (EDWARD) back in September. They even encouraged parents and carers to get involved in the campaign during our Meet the Teacher evening.

Well done Team Stepps! We are very proud of you!

Community Fun Day

Despite the weather forecast,  the sun shone and we had another fantastic Community Fun Day. We were joined by a number of local clubs and organisations, as well as representatives from NLC  Leisure. Our amazing PTA organised another fun filled day for our families and local community to enjoy.

We were delighted to be invited to Stepps Bowling Club to try our hand at lawn bowling. Our first visit was a great success, and we are looking forward to our second visit in June. Lawn bowling is more difficult than it looks, but some of our P6 pupils were naturals!

Thank you to all the members of Stepps Bowling Club who gave up their time to coach the children and make us feel very welcome.

P7 Transition Project

Over the past few weeks, our P7 pupils have been busy working with staff from Chryston High School on a very special business and design project. They have been asked to design a new lectern for use in CHS. The children will pitch their design to a judging panel from CHS. The winning team will then compete with representatives from schools from the local area to have their design turned into reality. Good luck Team  Stepps!

Walk to School Week 2018.

It’s Walk to School Week from Monday 21st May – Friday 25th May. What don’t you leave the car at home this week and encourage you child to walk to school. Walking to school is a great way to keep fit and help reduce the parking problems around our school.
