Term 3 Update from Primary 5F

Primary 5F are really enthusiastic about their Interdisciplinary/Science topic Clyde in the Classroom. This topic encourages children to engage with nature and develop a sense of pride in their local environment. Primary 5F are responsible for the care of brown trout within their classroom and work weekly with a Clyde River Foundation Scientist (Katie). The brown trout eggs were delivered on Thursday the 31st of January. We are expected to care for the eggs for six to eight weeks where we will then release them into the River Clyde. The children are responsible for checking on the tank several times a day. They need to check the temperature and ensure that it is suitable for the eggs; too hot and they add iced water bottles or too cold and they would remove any iced water bottles. The children need to check on the eggs and remove any eggs which have died to ensure that they don’t spread any viruses to the remaining eggs. Primary 5F were very keen to participate in a litter pick at Barons Haugh to reduce litter/plastic from entering the River Clyde. The children are thoroughly enjoying caring for the eggs and all of the learning which is taking place within their topic. Look out for our pictures on Twitter.

An Update from Primary 5B

A big hello from Primary 5B!

Since you last heard from us, we have been very busy spending time in our local community, doing some good and learning lots along the way!

We are delighted to announce that we raised over £200 through our incredibly popular Hot Chocolate Cafe! We used this money to buy a gift for many elderly people spending Christmas in hospital. We were delighted to attend a Christmas party at Wishaw General Hospital where we could give these gifts, sing carols and spend some quality time with some very special elderly people!

Since returning to school, we have been hard at work – indoors and out! Please browse the pictures below to have a look at some of the great things we have been up to!

Cheerio for now!

Primary 6 Blog

We have had a busy start to Term 3 so far here in Primary 6! It is a very important term for us with the preparation for Confirmation. We have now started the Confirmation workbooks in class and at home and we are excited about starting this journey.

The children have also had their first visit to Our Lady’s High School and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Some children from the class participated in the Euroquiz and the North Lanarkshire School’s gymnastics competitions. All of the children involved put so much work and preparation into these and I am so proud of them and their achievements.

We are currently enjoying our mini ‘Space and the Solar System Science’ topic and will be moving onto ‘Britain’s Cultural Diversity’ soon.
