An Update from Primary 5B

A big hello from Primary 5B!

Since you last heard from us, we have been very busy spending time in our local community, doing some good and learning lots along the way!

We are delighted to announce that we raised over £200 through our incredibly popular Hot Chocolate Cafe! We used this money to buy a gift for many elderly people spending Christmas in hospital. We were delighted to attend a Christmas party at Wishaw General Hospital where we could give these gifts, sing carols and spend some quality time with some very special elderly people!

Since returning to school, we have been hard at work – indoors and out! Please browse the pictures below to have a look at some of the great things we have been up to!

Cheerio for now!

Primary 6 Blog

We have had a busy start to Term 3 so far here in Primary 6! It is a very important term for us with the preparation for Confirmation. We have now started the Confirmation workbooks in class and at home and we are excited about starting this journey.

The children have also had their first visit to Our Lady’s High School and thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

Some children from the class participated in the Euroquiz and the North Lanarkshire School’s gymnastics competitions. All of the children involved put so much work and preparation into these and I am so proud of them and their achievements.

We are currently enjoying our mini ‘Space and the Solar System Science’ topic and will be moving onto ‘Britain’s Cultural Diversity’ soon.

Update from P7

Hello again from Primary 7! We cannot believe that we are 3 weeks in to term 3 already.

Primary 7 have made an excellent start to the term and we are excited to share with you what we have been learning.

During maths, we have been improving our mental agility by discussing and learning new mental strategies during our daily Number Talks. We have been focusing on multiplication and are improving our confidence in using a range of multiplication strategies. Primary 7 have also applied their knowledge of number processes, percentages and decimal fractions to allow them to solve challenging money problems involving interest, discounts and credit cards.

The pupils have thoroughly enjoyed using their creativity whilst celebrating Burn’s Day to create their own “McHaggis” characters, and create adventurous stories involving these characters. In literacy, the pupils have also been very enthusiastic as they have begun working through their new, exciting novels.

A highlight of the term so far is definitely the completion of the pupils’ science experiment investigating how certain chemicals or liquids react with rusty coins. The pupils enjoyed investigating how corrosive liquids such as vinegar, coca cola and sauce can be. The pupils have also been working towards becoming Play Leaders in PE and are enjoying this responsibility.

We can’t wait to share our learning with you on the school Twitter feed and in our next blog post!
