Primary 5 Term 2

Term 2 has been a busy term here in Primary 5. We have been learning lots of interesting facts about the Romans as part of our IDL theme. We have learned about a variety of  emperors, the Roman army and will be creating some Roman mosaics in a similar style to that used by the Romans themselves.

In maths we have been focusing on money, area and perimeter and 2D and 3D shape. We will be looking at the nets of shapes in the coming days, creating our own 3D shapes using art straws.

We also hope you enjoyed our recent Christmas show. We spent a lot of time rehearsing for it and we made sure our singing voices were excellent for you all to listen to and enjoy.

We hope you have a relaxing holiday and we would just like to say, ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,’ from all of us here in Primary 5.

Hello from P6/5

As we continue on our journey we have left the rainforest behind and are counting down the days to Christmas in our new topic looking at the many, and different, Christmas traditions around the world. Mrs Oates joined us as we worked in small groups, looking at all the continents and naming some countries on each.

In Maths we have been working on money, learning about many aspects such as budgeting; profit and loss and ways of paying for items, hopefully this will stand them in good stead for later on in life.

We thoroughly enjoyed our second outdoor session, really using our imaginations to see what pictures we could see in the clouds – it was amazing!

Our practices are going well for our St Andrew’s Day concert and we also have begun preparations for the Christmas Show learning a mixture of carols and popular songs.

An Update from Primary 1 & Primary 2/1

It has been such a busy term and we have all been working hard. At the beginning of December we went to see the Pantomime, ‘Peter Pan’ in Motherwell Civic and we had so much fun. It really got us into the Christmas spirit!

Our IDL theme this Term has been Winter and we have had lots of learning experiences linked to this. We have been looking at the features of the season of winter and learning about what happens during Winter time. Our role play areas in our classrooms have been transformed into Santa’s Grotto, where we dress up as elves and wrap all of the presents in time for Christmas. We even have workbenches in our construction area to help Santa build all of the toys.

It has been a very busy time for us all in the preparation for our Christmas Nativity Show ‘Birthday Time Again.’ We have been practising and are very excited to get on the stage and perform for everyone.
