An Update from Primary 6

Hello once again from Primary 6!

Since you last heard from us we have been very busy indeed!

Last term, we worked extremely hard to prepare the different performances taking place over the course of the term. For our St Andrews showcase, we learned and performed an extract from Matthew Fitt’s ‘The Eejits’ Here is a picture of Mr. and Mrs. Eejit themselves! During our Christmas show, we performed a selection of songs and dances from Oliver! – a musical which linked perfectly to our topic, The Victorians!

This term has gotten off to an excellent start. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about different careers during our World of Work event this week. Here we are working with some of the great volunteers who gave up their time to work with us!

This will be a very important and exciting term for Primary 6 as we prepare to make the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please pray for us during this special and holy time.

A Update from Primary 7

Primary 7 are feeling refreshed and ready to work hard after their Christmas break. The pupils are continuing to show maturity and enthusiasm in their role as paired reading partners and peer mediators. We also have the responsibility of organising the Golden Time clubs this term so we have been very busy! For the next six weeks we are lucky enough to have a French Assistant (Romane) who will be working with us every Tuesday. The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the French culture and of course having an opportunity to speak French with a native speaker.

Term 3 is a very exciting one for Primary 7. With the special Sacrament – Confirmation – approaching, the boys and girls will be reflecting and preparing for a new journey in their Faith. In class we have been learning about the life and work of modern day Saints such as Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina and Saint Teresa of Calcutta. We look forward to our Confirmation preparation and retreat day next month.

The Travel Team

Let us introduce ourselves. We are Lewis, Niamh, Erin, Matthew, Christopher and Harvey and we are the Travel Team.

What do we do?

We want to make sure that everyone is able to travel safely to school and we want to encourage active travel.

What is active travel?

Walking, cycling and scooting. We want to see more pupils using their feet, bikes and scooters!

What if you need to bring your car?

We are not against cars, but we don’t want to see them outside the school gates.

DO NOT:

Park on or opposite the zigzags – a clear road is safer to cross

Park on pavements – children are trying to walk there!

Block driveways – don’t be lazy – park somewhere else!

Where should you park?

You are allowed to use St. Brendan’s Chapel car park.

OUR AIM

We want to see a clear road outside the school in the morning and afternoon so please park in the chapel car park or even better why not walk, cycle or scoot!

Thank you for reading and remember to pass on the message to anyone who drives to the school!
