Term 4 Up-Date from Primary 3F

Term 4 has been very busy and quick. The children have really enjoyed the variety of learning opportunities which they have experienced; such as the Health/Eco/Fairtrade and Outdoor Learning week. Our Summer Enterprise topic has generated a lot of enthusiasm from our young entrepreneurs within Primary 3. We were delighted to welcome Mrs Cosgrove to visit all of the Primary 3 children to discuss how she started up and developed her own business. The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit and they were inspired to create and develop their own businesses. In their business groups the children have create their own businesses. They have decide on a business name, created a business plan, developed a budget planner to ensure that they cover the costs of their produce and to ensure that they make a profit and created posters to advertise their business. The children are very excited about holding their Summer Enterprise where they will be able to sell their products and services to their peers.

As this is our final blog as Primary 3 I would like to thank all of our parents for their continued support throughout the year, it has been greatly appreciated. Finally I would like to wish everyone a safe and sunny Summer break.

An Update from St Brendan’s Nursery

In nursery this term the children have been learning about “Our Growing Bodies”. They have been exploring how their bodies grow, from a baby all the way to an adult. They have been learning how healthy food and water help our bodies to grow. The children enjoyed talking about when they were babies and looking at baby pictures of themselves.  The children have also been exploring a selection of books in celebration of “World Book Day”. We were very privileged in nursery to have some of the children’s parents/carers  and Bernadette from Asda visiting us to read stories in the cosy story corner. Following on from the celebrations the children are now exploring their “Favourite Tales” as the context for learning over the coming weeks.

Update from Primary 2

What a busy term we have had! The children have learned a lot about Scotland this term – their knowledge and enthusiasm is impressive! We have learned about the life of Robert Burns and his poetry. We know more about some of the famous sights in Scotland, and particularly enjoyed finding out more about castles. We have learned about famous Scottish inventors and their inventions, and we even have our own ‘Inventors Kit’ which has given us the opportunity to create our own inventions! We enjoy using our Scottish tourist centre – our role play area in the classroom, and we have enjoyed designing pictures in the style of Rennie Macintosh.

We recently had a lesson on ‘Topical Science’ in response to the news report that Nasa had discovered 7 new earth-like planets. The children delved in to this new learning and in response to this we then learned more about our own solar system. The children are now fascinated by all things space related!
