Update from Primary 4

Primary 4 have had a great second term and have been working very hard.  We have been learning so much since our last update!

During maths we have been learning about measure and addition and subtraction.  We have have been using word problems to put our learning in real life context.  We have been working so hard!

We have been taking part in a special mission to find out about places in Glasgow.  We have done lots of research on The Riverside Museum, The Glasgow School of Art, Hampden Park and The Botanic Gardens.  We have used the i-pads and google maps to help us plot these landmarks on a map.  As we have learned more about the city of Glasgow we have created some fantastic artwork.  It’s been great finding out about places on our doorstep!

During RE, we are learning about Advent and how we can prepare ourselves for this special season.  We have been learning about the annunciation and the journe difficult journey Mary and Joseph made to Bethlehem.  We are looking forward to learning more about the Christmas story and remembering the true meaning of this holy season.

Have a look at the photographs below to see how hard we work in all other areas of our learning!

Update from Primary 5/4

Hello once again from Primary 5/4 and Miss Burns! Since you last heard from us, we have had an action packed second term full of great learning experiences!

At the start of term we completed our Secret of Success topic after we researched and presented information on successful people throughout history! We learned that to be successful it is important that we try our best, learn from our mistakes, look for challenges and work with others. We used these skills to help us to tackle some interesting STEM challenges in teams!

As part of our science focus this term, we have been learning more about inheritance and how we inherit many of our traits from our parents and grandparents. Can you roll your tongue? Do you have curly hair or freckles? These are just some of the traits that are inherited from your family! We enjoyed comparing traits with each other and even played traits bingo!

We are now learning about different local charities and the ways that they different groups of people in our community. Keep checking the school Twitter feed for a very exciting project we will be undertaking in the last few weeks before Christmas!

Term 2 Update from Primary 5

Primary 5 have been working hard so far this term. The children have been enjoying their maths lessons and it is nice to see them growing in confidence. Up to now this term we have worked on Money and Time. The children understand that it is important to develop within these areas to increase their knowledge and understanding of maths but also as life skills. The children have been encouraged to handle and be responsible for money where possible to increase their knowledge of money being used within the world. Additionally the children have been encouraged to use a watch and clocks within their home and classroom environment to increase their awareness of the time and be responsible for their own time management. We will be moving on to Multiplication and Division next which we are looking forward to. The children have been doing a fabulous job with their maths homework and this is having a positive impact with their confidence and classwork, keep it up! Look out for our pictures on Twitter.
