Dear Parent/Guardian,

I hope you all had a lovely Easter break, we cannot believe that we’re in the final term already!

Primary 4 have had a great and busy term 3 and they cannot wait to share what they will be learning in term 4.

Literacy

All children coped well with their reading books last term. Gryffindor will be reading The Queen’s Nose this term and Slytherin will be reading The Invisible Dog. Hufflepuff will continue to read a variety of books and work their way through the Rapid Readers programme. The Potter spelling group will focus on Unit 7 and 8 of the active literacy programme, which includes the phonemes ‘ow’ and ‘oi’. The Weasley spelling group will focus on the phonemes ‘ss’, ‘ll’, ‘ff’, ‘kn’ and ‘mb’ as well as their weekly common words.

In writing this term children will be focusing on Narrative and Persuasive writing. .

Numeracy

In Maths this term we will be learning about Measurement, Time and Chance and Uncertainty. Dollars will be looking at 5 minute intervals within time and Euros will be focusing on quarter to and quarter past. In addition, we will be continuing to improve our mental agility through Number Talks. This term we will focus on subtraction strategies.

Health and Wellbeing

This term in Physical Education the children will be developing their skills in Athletics and Target Games. The children will also be exploring how to keep ourselves healthy and safe. Children will look at hygiene, healthy foods and they will also look at the food journey from farm to fork.

Interdisciplinary Learning

This children will undertake an Enterprise topic this term. They will be learning about France and will create their own French Café. This will be a great opportunity for children to further develop their French speaking skills, which they love!

Science

In Science this term children will be learning about Electricity. The children will be learning about electricity as a form of energy and they will design and construct simple circuits.

Religious Education

In Religious Education this term children w.ill be preparing for their First Holy Communion The Church and God’s Loving Plan where children will explore how unique we are and how our feelings can affect the choices we make.

Remember to keep up to date with our learning through twitter.

Many thanks,

Miss Paterson and Primary 4.
