Reconciliation Retreat (Primary 3F)

On Tuesday the 15th of November we had a spiritual Reconciliation Retreat to Holy Family in Mossend. The staff where very welcoming and made it a memorable occasion for the children. Volunteers from Our Lady’s High, who are participating in the Caritas Award, supported the children during their various activities. Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Walker were our parent helpers on the day.

Our retreat began with a teambuilding activity which involved the children working cooperatively. Afterwards the children were involved in an arts and crafts activity where they learned about the importance of Reconciliation and made their own ‘Treasures of Reconciliation’. The children participated in a treasure hunt where they had to use the clues to find the images of the lost coin, the lost sheep and the prodigal son. As each of these stories ends with a celebration the children had their own celebration with party hats and balloons. In the Canon Kelly Room we were involved in a whole class drama acting out the story of Zacchaeus. Our day finished with prayer and meditation. The day was a wonderful learning experience for the children in preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation which they will receive during Primary 3.
