What a Phizz-Whizzing Wednesday for P2/3

Primary 2/3 were very lucky today as they received a surprise letter from the BFG!

He needed this fantastic classes help and the children showed great team work working together to complete their role on the wall activity describing the big friendly giant.

A scrumdidlyumptious week in pr5!

What a great week we have had in Pr5 celebrating Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday!

image

We have had great fun reading The BFG, The Enormous Crocodile and Roald Dahl’s famous Revolting Rhymes! We have been looking at the language of Roald Dahl books, creating characters of our own, learning to note down main points from chapters as well as reading for pure fun!

The children were in stitches laughing Roald Dahl’s version of Little Red Riding Hood and the three little pigs! Certainly worth a read if you get a chance!

On Friday we invited our parents in for a very special event. We started with a little presentation about Roald Dahl, a song “Pure Imagination” from Charlie and the chocolate factory, then we had imagination stations where our parents got a chance to become involved in some of our learning. We then celebrated with tea and cakes and everyone left with a balloon with a Roald Dahl quote attached! Phew what a great afternoon! The children and their parents worked so hard. Well done everyone!

What a responsible bunch!

This week we have been working on our wall display for our topic which is called our world, our responsibility. In class we have been writing about the things we are responsible for at home and at school. A group of us got to work with Mrs Ruddy to make our work for the centre of our display, we think it looks fab!

A wonderful week in Primary1.

Here you can see what we have been learning to do in number work. We are learning to count along an unnumbered track…it can be quite tricky!
image image

We also practiced these counting skills using the game boards with our friends. image

It was great fun using the Bee Bots to count along the un-numbered track.image image

On Friday we had a great start with our parents and carers coming along to our “Stay and Read” sessions. Here we are reading our books with our family and friends. We even got to take a library book home for the weekend! It was brilliant and everyone had a nice morning. image image image image image image image image image image

3, 2, 1 – Blast Off!

imageimage image image image image image

Primary 4 has had an amazing start to the year launching into their new topic Space. The children have researched our Solar System looking at the eight different planets (sorry Pluto!) and can now put them in the correct order from the Sun. Using their ICT skills the children researched some interesting facts about the planets, cataloging them in their planet booklet. Just last week they worked effectively in teams to create these fantastic information posters. Well done Primary 4!  Watch this space (pardon the pun) for the next update!

Primary 1 Super Stars

Welcome to our class blog. We will post our class news on here every week.

Here we all are …self portraits done in charcoal. Aren’t we very talented?

image

You can see that we have been busy in RE too. After reading the story of “The Kissing Hand” we decorated our own hand print and use these to pray the five fingers of prayer. We pray for …. The weak, Our families, The leaders, Our Pope, Bishops and Priests and finally Ourselves.

Here you can see “Odd and Even Street”. We are using it to help us learn more about numbers. Everyone made a house for the street.

We hope you enjoyed reading our first blog. Look out for more……

A great start to primary 5!

What a fantastic start to Pr 5!

We have been reading The BFG by Roald Dahl. This has inspired us to use our imagination when writing about characters and when creating stories and poetry.  We have also been studying the skill and craft of the author along with working on our comprehension strategies. We have created some of our own work which we are sure Roald Dahl would be proud of himself!

image

image

We have also loved exploring dreams and dream jars. We have made our own jars in art work and have filled them with some of our fantastic dreams!

image

We have also been looking at structures in science. Making our solid structures from spaghetti and sweets was a definite highlight of the week!

Next week is Roald Dahl’s birthday! Can’t wait to see what we will learn next…

P6 – Cool Class, Cool Learning…

Did we mention that we are this week’s ‘Cool Class?’ Well our learning this week has certainly been of Cool Class standard!

We have been learning more about Spain. We worked at different stations to find out about Spanish food, weather, festivals, customs and arts…

Mrs McLean has also been encouraging us to think about our God-given talents this week. In R.E we watched the Parable of the Three Servants and then we read the story again from the Gospel of Matthew. We learned from this Parable, that God gives each of us our own special talents and that we are called to use our talents wisely. Some children shared their talents with the class this week…

P6 are so good at independent learning (and teaching!) that Mrs McLean might just put her feet up next week and read the paper! Well done P6!

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let Down Your Hair

Here in Primary 3 we have been learning about the traditional tale of Rapunzel. We wrote some super stories and created some fantastic art work to match. We even used wool to make Rapunzel’s long, golden hair. Our pictures look wonderful on our new Rapunzel wall!
