P2/3 had a fantastic time on their school trip to the Botanic Gardens where they explored the area for different mini beasts and had a few close encounters with the wildlife!!
Magnifying classes at the ready, the children explored high and low looking in the trees, leaves, and soil to see what they could find. We even managed to catch a few spiders, flys and bugs.
The squirrels seemed very excited to see us around their habitat and popped over to say hello!
Finally we had a go at charming the worms and even managed to charm a few out of the ground.
What a fantastic day hunting for minibeasts :D!!

This week we all took part in the Christmas card competition. Being very creative, we decided to paint the background of our card using lots of different colours. Afterwards, we cut out a snowman and added some detail…..we will post a picture next week when the winner has been announced.
Also this week, we took part in a fun football session. Here we are, listening carefully to the coach and having a go at football.Â

When Friday arrived, we were pleased to see so many parents/carers coming in to read with us again at our stay and read sessions. This is week 4, so 2 more sessions to go. It has been very enjoyable for everyone.

We had a wonderful time completing our sponsored obstacle course on Wednesday afternoon. Even though the course was challenging, it was no match for us superstars in Primary 3!

Well you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was the festive season in P6 yesterday. The Christmas music was playing and we were singing along merrily as we designed Christmas cards for a super competition…
Very surreal (like Salvador Dali’s art!) but lots of fun!
Happy holidays everyone!

This week has been an extremely busy week in Primary 6/7. Firstly we had the sponsored obstacle course, even Miss Kiernan had a go!
Mr Young organised a Christmas card competition. The children had to complete a Christmas picture and the winning picture will be put onto a Christmas Card which will be sold at the Christmas Fair.
Well done Primary 6/7 for collecting so many tins for Helping Hands!

Once again, we have had a fabulous week. We have been showing the teacher our number skills and how we can order the numbers up to 5 and beyond.
Working hard in the Digital Learning suite is always one of the highlights of our week. Here we are learning to log on and access the programmes on the computer. It is tricky to move the mouse around but we are getting more skilled every week.
Stay and Read sessions are well under way in our class and library every Friday morning. Whenever our family and friends stay and read with us it is great fun.
Somehow we have almost completed the first term of primary 1 and it has flown in…..we can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next week……

This week, we headed off to the Get-Together room to make Spanish food and drinks. On the menu we had sangria mocktails, banderillas and gazpacho…
The sangria mocktails were a big hit but I think the jury is still out on the gazpacho! Great teamwork boys and girls. Well done!

This week we have been very busy in class learning all about different types of sentences. Having looked at some examples in groups, we discussed the difference between each sentence and what each one tell us. We now are aware and can distinguish between the sentence types: statement, command, question and exclamation. We had lots of fun in pairs sorting examples under the correct headings.

This week have been looking at a number of things as part of our UK topic.
One thing we have been looking at is Coatbridge, our local area. We began researching how Coatbridge got it’s name then we became engrossed finding all about Coatbridge throughout the years.
Did you know the Coatbridge fountain has been moved many times in the past? Look at these photos below. Can you guess the decade?
We really liked the ones with the horse and carts!
Keep an eye on school bags for Monday’s homework. A bit different this week. A Coatbridge challenge!
We have also been continuing to read through The BFG. We are at the part where Sophie and the giant head to Buckingham palace. We followed their journey via our smart board and we were fascinated with Buckingham Palace. What a lovely building! We even had a wee sneaky peak inside. Very impressive and glamorous. We decided to draw it in art and decided to write about meeting the queen in story writing! Imagine!
