Wow! What a great place to be! When you are in the playground, you can play tig with your friends. You can also have great fun when you are playing football or basketball. We like our playground because there is a lot of space.

Primary 1 celebrate FESTIVALS.

Our new topic is Festivals. We are exploring lots of different festivals from now until the Christmas holidays. This week we learned all about Halloween and how it links to The feast of All Saints and All Souls’ Day too. Here’s what we have been up to so far……

image

We learned where our food comes from in autumn and used our observational skills to colour mix and paint these Starlight Pumpkins.

image

We learned about some popular saints- St. Peter, St Andrew, St Francis of Assisi, St Teresa of Calcutta and made our own mini books to help us pray.

image

This week is also the festival of Diwali for Hindus and Sikhs. It is a festival of light so we used our cutting and folding skills to make these Diwali lanterns.

A busy week in in pr 5

We have been researching our local area. Here we are sharing results of our parent questionnaires to the rest of the class. We had to use eye contact and clear voices. We were even allowed to sit in the teacher’s chair!

After our ICT research, questionnaires and finding out about the best things about Coatbridge, we decided to put all of our information into leaflets! Don’t they look brilliant?

imageMaths has been a challenge this week!

We have been working with the four operations in lots of different sums.  We were introduced to a longer way to multiply. We are gladly getting the hang of it!

We have started looking at the world of work. Part of this is to think about what we are good at. Our skills should hopefully help us to choose a career path as we continue through our education.

We wrote down three skills of our own and everyone walked around the room and ticked the one that they thought was our best skill.

It was great to see what people thought we were good at. A real confidence boost!

In a galaxy far far away…

This week in primary 4 we had a school trip to the Glasgow Science Centre’s Planetarium. It was great fun! We started the day by exploring our Universe in the workshop Passport to the Planets, learning all new facts about constellations and the planets, Mars, Earth and Jupiter. Our guide John was great and he was able to answer any questions we had about our Galaxy, the Milkyway.image      image

After the workshop we had time to go and explore the rest of the Science Centre. There were different experiments on each floor and we had lots of fun whilst learning about them. We cannot wait to go back!!

Space and all things spooky…

This week we have been practising for our assembly which is next Friday at 2:00pm (we hope to see you there!) but, even though our minds are still on Spain, we have started to explore our new topic which is…The Solar System!

We we watched a video about our Solar System and practised our note taking skills…

Since it it was the Hallowe’en disco on Thursday, we decided to get a bit spooky in class to get us in the mood. Amid the spooky sounds and scary cobwebs we studied silhouettes and created our own haunted houses…

On Halloween we will add some colour to our spooky houses using chalk and oil pastels. We hope to scare (and impress) you then!

Paper Plate Pumpkins

This week in Primary 3 we have been busy with some Halloween crafts.

First we painted some paper plates orange and left them to dry overnight.

image image image

We then used sugar paper to cut and stick some scary faces on our pumpkins.

Miss Duffy also visited our class and showed us how to create some spooky spider’s web chalk pictures. View at your own risk!
