P5 Daily Plan – Thursday 30 April

Good morning everyone, I have been enjoying your updates on Glow and Dojo so far this week! Here is today’s plan.

Writing

  • Open the writing folder on Glow.
  • Click on the Writing Challenge Cards,
  • There are four to choose from so pick your favourite theme and write a story about it.
  • You will need an introduction, middle section and a conclusion. It is up to you how many paragraphs you choose to include in the middle section.
  • Remember to use paragraphs to separate your writing.
  • Think about your setting. Is it set now or in the past? Where does your story take place?
  • Who are your characters? Are you in the story?

I can’t wait to read some imaginative pieces of writing!

Spelling

Open your group spelling folder on Glow. Choose one of the activities to practice your words for this week.

Maths

Espresso – 3D Shape

  • Login to Espresso, click Second Level and then click on 3D Shape Lower.
  • Watch the videos about 3D shapes.
  • In activities try the 3D shape snap activity and the quiz.
  • Go back to the Second Level page and click on 3D Shape Upper.
  • In videos watch the drawing 3D shapes video.
  • In the Numeracy Folder on Glow click on the folder called Shape.
  • Open the powerpoint called Drawing Shapes Tasks.
  • Your task today is to have a go at drawing some 3D shapes. It is easier to draw them on isometric paper so I have given you some incase you are able to print. If not just use normal paper and try your best. Remember to use a ruler for straight edges.

Mental Maths – Thursday’s questions are in the folder on Glow.

Sumdog – Try today’s challenge. The house will be open for you throughout the day.

Art

Over the next few weeks we will be looking at the work of Scottish Artists.

This week we are looking at Steven Brown. There is a powerpoint about him in the Art folder on Glow and on the Dojo Class Story.

Work through the powerpoint and try the highland cow activity. There is a template for you to use if you are able to print. If not you will need to draw the highland cow first and then add colour to your own drawing. I have uploaded a step by step guide on how to draw one too!

P.E.

Make sure you get some exercise today. You could do P.E. with Joe, Cosmic Kids yoga or get outside into your garden and have some fun!

Mrs MacLean’s Challenges

You usually work with Mrs MacLean on a Thursday so why don’t you go into her folder and try some of the tasks she has made for you.

I hope you enjoy your tasks today!

Miss Connor

Soapy Science Experiment

Good morning everyone!

As our Health focus this week is hand washing, I have found a fun science experiment you can do easily at home. It helps you to understand why hand washing is so important. I have uploaded the instruction card into today’s folder in the ‘Health and Wellbeing’ section on Glow, along with some other fun activities.

Enjoy, and stay safe!
