Back with a Bang!

We have started our new term with lots of enthusiasm in P4 and we have worked hard this week.

In R.E, we learned all about Our Lady and we know that we should show devotion to Mary, especially during the month of October. We did this by saying the Rosary together in class and reflecting on her life. Next, we learned about the fascinating story of Mary and the Miraculous Medal. We have started to create our own Miraculous Medals to show our devotion to Mary. Watch our Blog for pictures!

We also learned how to write interesting story openings this week. Here we are sharing our exciting openings with our partners…

And of course, a new term means a new topic! Ours is ‘Space!’ We really impressed Mrs McLean with the facts we already knew about Space but there’s so much more that we want to find out.

First up this week, we learned about night and day and why it happens. It’s all to do with the Sun and the Earth! The Sun is really a giant star and it’s very, very hot! We discussed ‘hot colours’ and what the Sun might look like if it was possible to get up close to it (it’s not so don’t try it at home!). We made our own red hot Suns using paint and cling film. Messy but great fun.

P2/3 Our Week So Far

We have learned two new maths symbols this week, with a little help from Chris the Crocodile!

He shows us what symbol to use for less than and more than. He is such a greedy crocodile and loves to eat the largest number.

We also started our new topic on electricity. We enoyed creating lightning pictures using chalk on black paper.

Finally, as the winners of the Cool Class Cup last week, we had fun and kept fit while playing Just Dance on the Wii. We even had a competition for the best dancer.

A catch up with Primary 5/6

Primary 5/6 were very busy during term one. Here’s a look at some of our fantastic topic work on the 1960s. In the photos you can see some children from the class working hard on a selection of our album covers, pop art and information posters.

Buddy time with pr7 and pr1

Primary seven were over the moon today to work with their fabulous pr1 buddies.  The children were helping their buddies to evaluate their writing and help them set targets and next steps in writing. Primary seven were amazed at how much progress their buddies are making. It is wonderful working with the buddies.

Curriculo in primary 7

image image image image image imagePrimary seven were given a treat today when Karen Glen came in to deliver Curriculo Solutions to them. The children were learning and discussing about skills and talents. We were thinking about what skills we all have and what skills may be needed for certain jobs. The children were asked to think about which skills they would like to further develop. Children explored body language and the skill of listening. This work will help these adults of the future, to explore possible careers that will suit their skills and talents.

A busy week for Primary 2/3

What a busy end to the term we’ve had! Let us fill you in on some of our learning and school life this week…

We’ve been working hard to learn our new sounds this week. We love using our mini whiteboards to help us practise our words.

We enjoy playing ‘Higher Or Lower’ to help us with comparing numbers in numeracy.

Last, but not least, we had a fantastic time preparing for and performing in our ‘Welcome to the Sixties’ show. We hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did!

Fashion in the 60s

Throughout our sixties topic we have been learning all about 1960s fashion and culture, we looked at the different features of male and female fashion. We also looked at the effects of pattern and colour in the 1960s clothes. This is our take on the 1960s paper dress.
