In Primary 1/2 over the past few weeks we have been working towards opening up our own postal service. It is now up and running and we are rushed off our little feet keeping the letters stamped and delivered on time. We had no idea working at the post office was so tiring!
Here are our very own Christmas stamps. If you post a letter in our post box at the hall, we will stamp it and post if free of charge!
Every day we collect, stamp, frank and sort the mail. Then we deliver it to each class.
We are making full use of our postal service and have written our letters to Santa – we are going to post them and hope we get a special reply.

Yesterday we got a letter from our class teddy bear Paddington. He told us he had bought his mum a present for Christmas but he didn’t know how to wrap it up. He asked if Primary 2 would wrap the present for him and write him a set of instructions so he will know what to do the next time. He left the present and some wrapping paper for us in the class so Miss Connor and Miss Christie set up a wrapping table and we got started. First of all we made a list of all the things we needed to wrap the present. Then we began wrapping, one step at a time. We all got a turn at coming out and completing a step and we had to think about what we were doing so we could write it down clearly for Paddington. When we were finished, we showed our beautifully wrapped present to Paddington and he was so pleased! We put the completed set of instructions into his suitcase so he can use them the next time he has a present to wrap. He said thank you very much to all of the boys and girls in Primary 2 for helping him!

This week in primary 1 we learned two new sounds, ‘h’ and ‘w’. Some of us found it tricky to write ‘h’ but with lots of practice we are now amazing at it! Bridget pointed out that it looks just like the sound ‘n’ except taller! We choose our new sounds every week from our crocodile phoneme bin!
During maths time we were learning about symmetry with Mrs Wilson! We painted one half of our paper with a pattern then we folded it in half to create a symmetrical pattern! Check out the amazing results.
Since we are super smart in primary 1 we also learned about the days of the week and the months of the year in maths. For the days of the week we learned a song to help us remember the order of them. We also know that when we get to the end of a week we just start a new one!
A wonderful week for us! Miss Duffy is very proud as always.

We have been working so hard in our maths lessons with Miss Connor and Miss Christie. We have been practicing our addition and subtraction sums every day and we are much better at finding the answers on our own. This week we used the Splat Square game on the smartboard to help us to find the missing number in lots of tricky sums. We also learned how to make up sets of fact families and we made some human fact families with Miss Christie to show us how the numbers can move around to make new sums.
