Primary 1a – 1st April

Good morning boys and girls.  I hope that you are all well.  Today we begin a new month – April. Can you say your days of the week and months of the year to someone in your family?

Try to begin your day with some exercise to wake you up and get your minds working.  Perhaps try some Cosmic Kids Yoga ( I know that you all enjoy that) or Joe Wicks or Go Noodle.

Literacy – Practise all of your sounds and phonemes “sh, th, ch and ng” – try to write down two words for each phoneme. We will look at some new phonemes after Easter. Remember that you can sing along to the Jolly Phonics songs on YouTube.

Numeracy – Practise counting to 30 orally, count forwards and backwards.  Here is a fun game that you can revise your addition and subtraction to 10.

Your Caterpillars are making great progress, they climbed to the top of the cup and became chrysalides – this is the hard shell that forms around the caterpillar. My boys enjoyed helping to move the chrysalides into their new home – the butterfly garden.  Now we must wait for 7-14 days to see the amazing transformation that is taking place inside.

Have a great day! Keep working on your grids and Sumdog games. I’d love to see some more pictures of you.

Mrs MacLeod 😁

Good morning to our FABULOUS PRIMARY 5S,

I cannot believe that April has arrived. It is of course April Fool’s Day, be kind to your family!

Try hard to join the live Facebook Fractions and Decimals Workshop by Count On Us at 10.30 am. Further details are on my previous blog post.

Let’s continue exploring negative numbers. Watch the following clip and complete questions.

Make sure that you pause the clip whilst you work on the activity. If you want even more practice have a go at the following page in your jotter: Answers are provided below, so no peaking!

Negative Number lines

Please spend some time on your personal reading today. Select 5 tricky words or phrases and investigate their meanings by reading forwards and backwards and checking your online dictionary.

Please take some time to complete reading, spelling and numeracy set tasks on Sumdog today. A new competition is live and waiting. I will announce the winner tomorrow!

I know that you are all experts using Power Point now. Why not begin a personal research project on an areas of personal interest and start to create your own Power Point. It could be about your pet, your hobby, a country, a famous person, a planet, a sport that you love, an era in history. You choose! Remember to gather information from a variety of sources before organising your Power Point. Feel free to share your work.

Remember that you can select and adapt tasks suggested to suit your circumstances. However, it is important to continue to push yourself and keep your amazing brains active throughout the day.

I am looking forward to hearing about your home learning. Mrs H x

The Easter Story

Good Afternoon Primary 1!

I hope that you are all working hard today. I have attached a lovely powerpoint about the Easter Story.

Ask an adult to open it for you. Have a look at it and talk about it to someone at home.

Maybe you could choose one of the pictures to draw.

The Easter Story

31st March – P4/3

Good morning everyone!

I hope you are all well and had a good day yesterday.

I have checked First News and can see some of you are working on your tasks, if you haven’t logged on yet, please give some of them a go today.  Continue to work from your grids too.  After the Easter holidays, I will be setting you daily tasks on here.

Why not try some art and crafts today? You could make a nice spring picture or a butterfly using materials found at home. We did this and the girls loved it!

Remember our topic was about plastic pollution, so anything you can find that you can recycle would be good too. Upload your creations on twitter so I can see them, remember you can send me a little message below too.  I miss you all very much.

Have a lovely day.

Mrs Graham x

Primary 7- Tuesday 31st March

Good morning Primary 7,

I hope everyone had a good night’s sleep and are ready to start a new day. Continue working through your learning grids to keep your brains active, there are lots of fun tasks to be completed.

Tune in to the Science Centre’s live broadcast at 10.00am this morning and write a short summary about what you have learned.

http://www.youtube.com/user/scienceshowbob

After the Easter holidays I am going to be setting you some tasks that encourage you to research WW2 as I know this was a topic you were all looking forward to learning about in school. Over the next few days you could record any facts that you already know about WW2 and any areas that you would like to explore. When you have created a list of questions you can email them to me and I will use them to plan out this topic.

I have created a Sum Dog competition that focuses on fractions, decimals and percentages. It would be great if as many of you as possible could participate in this competition and I will post the name of the winner on Friday afternoon. Come on Primary 7, bring out your competitive side!

I have set a reading comprehension task on First News that explores current news around the world. This task encourages you to read the articles carefully and explore a range of different questioning styles.

Remember to continue with personal reading every day, it is such a nice way to switch off and relax for a little bit of time.

Mrs Butler 🙂

Tuesday 31st March 2020

Good Morning Primary 3,

Hope we are up and ready to learn. Lets start the day with some exercise. You could try some go noodle videos or even try out Joe Wicks at 9:00 am on YouTube.

Today from 10:00 am there will be some new Sumdog challenges for you to try. These will be spelling and reading challenges. This is something we haven’t tried before so give it your best shot! Remember if it seems too tricky at first sumdog is just trying to set itself to the correct level for you.

For Maths today you can access Study Ladder for a money challenge. If you don’t have your log in yet remember to email me and I will get it sent to you.

Some of you have already been in touch to ask for a list of spelling words to revise. Please continue to email me and I will send these to you.

Most importantly boys and girls remember to have fun and stay safe!

Tuesday 31st March- Primary 1b

Good morning boys and girls 🙂

Yesterday was another beautiful Spring day. If you are outside today, see how many signs of Spring you can spot. You could even draw or paint a picture of Spring when you get back inside.

Remember I have set you a spelling and reading challenge on Sumdog to work on this week.       I have also set up a Maths competition for our class. Take part and test your amazing skills. I will keep a close eye on Sumdog each day this week and announce the winner of our competition on Friday. Good luck everyone!

Remember to keep active and have fun! Tuesday is our PE day so why not try the Joe Wicks workout, Jump Start Jonny or even some Cosmic Yoga.

We enjoy practising counting to 100 in ones in class with Jack Hartmann. Why not try this at home and ask someone in your house to join in!

Spread some joy by showing kindness today. You could help your mum and dad with any jobs around the house.

Enjoy your day boys and girls. Have fun and keep smiling!

Miss McEleney 🙂
