Fuel hardship payment

Low-income households in North Lanarkshire can apply for our £150 fuel hardship payment.

The payment is aimed at residents on a low income but earning too much to be eligible for any other cost of living financial assistance provided by the Scottish or UK governments.

Details of income thresholds and how to apply are available at www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/fuelpayment

The deadline for applications is 3 December at 5.00pm.

“We know that many people are worried about rising energy bills, so we are allocating £2.161 million to offer a one-off payment to households on a low income,” said Councillor Paul Kelly, Depute Council Leader.

“This is part of our eight-point cost of living action plan to help support residents who are trying to cope with spiralling living costs by providing a cash boost towards household bills.

“As part of the application process, we will also offer free support and assistance on benefits, debt and budgeting advice, and advice on staying warm while reducing energy costs.”

Information is also available at www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/benefits-and-money/cost-living-help.

Payments to successful applicants will begin at the end of October and will be made in the order that applications have been received.

Community News

Today the new play park in Muirhead was officially opened.

Prior to the big day a competition was held to name the park and to design a sign for it.

Many congratulations to Alfie Connell in Primary 6!

His suggestion was chosen for the new park which will now be known as:

The Marvellous Muirhead Park

Alfie was joined at the grand opening by children from Primaries 1-6 along with children from Chryston Primary and Jigsaw Family Learning Centre.

A great time was had by all in the fabulous Autumn sunshine!

Staffing and Classes: August 2022

Dear Primary 1 Parent,

Our staffing has been confirmed for next session. There will be two Primary 1 classes. The children will not be separated into classes immediately but will be taught by both of our Primary 1 teachers, Miss McEleney and Mrs Boyce.

We’re looking forward to seeing all of the children in August and hope that you all have a lovely summer break!
