30th March 2020

Good morning Primary 5,

I hope that you enjoyed a lovely relaxing weekend with your families.  Week two of home learning will be a little easier if you make a plan and try to get into a routine. Some of you managed to spend some time completing tasks on First News, Sumdog and Studyladder last week, well done. New tasks are set and waiting for you for this week. Remember that Sumdog will also allow you access to spelling and reading tasks.

We discussed the idea of creating a Time Capsule Letter to our future selves. In your letter you could give information about your likes, dislikes, your hopes/dreams for the future, what is happening in the world in 2020, what you have been doing during school closure and how you are feeling.  When complete seal the letter in an envelope and mark ‘DO NOT OPEN UNTIL 2030.’ Give your letter to a parent for safe keeping.

The sun is shining today so wrap up warm and spend some time outdoors.  You could jog around your garden or create your own fun workout.

Have a go at Dance Mat Typing on Bitesize: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zf2f9j6/articles/z3c6tfr

This will help to improve your touch typing skills.

Please spend some quiet time praying for those who are suffering across the world. Try to make someone at home smile today.

Stay safe! Mrs Haughey x

Happy Monday Primary 7

Happy Monday Primary 7,

I hope you all had a nice weekend and are ready to start week 2 of home learning.

I thought it might be nice to start the week off by saying a little prayer for a variety of intentions. Use this five finger prayer guide to help you.

It is important to keep active during these times. I remember how much you all loved our boot camp sessions so here is a little activity you can try to get your heart rates up. Spell out your own name and the names of any members of your family. Enjoy!

Today select a chapter from a book. Having read it carefully, create five questions about it which you could give to one of your friends.

You should include different types of questions e.g. literal and inferential.

Keep working on your learning grids this week and post some pictures as I am missing you all and would like to see what you have been up to.

Mrs Butler 🙂

P5/4 – Monday 30th March

Hi boys and girls,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and had some much needed rest!  It’s the beginning of a new week and you still have your grid to work through this week so remember to keep trying hard.  I’ve been checking Sumdog and lots of you have been on and completed your challenges but some didn’t manage to get on last week.  If you can, try and get on this week as it’s a great way of improving your numeracy skills.

I would also like you to go on Studyladder and Firstnews this week. Please login and try a few activities and become familiar with these excellent resources as from next week I’ll be setting tasks for you to try.  If you need your login details email me at MaryGrant@st-barbaras.n-lanark.sch.uk

I know it must be hard for you all just now so it is important that you remember to exercise and have lots of fun too.  I managed to get out into the sunshine yesterday and went a bike ride with my family – making sure we stayed far away from other people.  It was lovely to get some fresh air and exercise!    Let us know what you’re doing this week.  Tweet us your pictures at @St_BarbarasPS and we’ll retweet for all to see.

Why not try these mental maths questions:

I’ll post the answers at 3pm today!

Stay safe!

Mrs Grant 😀

Primary 2- Monday 30th March

Good morning Primary 2!

I hope you are all well rested and had a lovely relaxing weekend, ready for home school week 2! Tweet me @St_BarbarasPS updating me with your stories and sharing something you enjoyed doing this weekend.

Today I would like you to make sure you get some exercise in, why not start your day off with Joe Wicks @9:00am or by taking part in Oti Mabuse’s dance class @11:30am.

Please continue to work through your home learning grid this week. New challenges have been set on Sumdog for you, make sure to go on and check them out! Well done to the boys and girls who completed the challenges from last week, I was very impressed with the results.

Remember to keep revising your phoneme and common words, we will be learning our new words after Easter!

Keep up the great work,

Miss Shreenan 😃

Good Morning Primary 3,

Hope you all had a nice weekend at home. What a beautiful day it is today I hope that puts a smile on your face.

This week please continue to work on your home learning grid. As well as this it might be a good time to revise some spelling words. Please ask an adult to contact me via email and I can send a list of words. I have also set up an account for you all on study ladder where I will be setting some challenges. To get your log in details just drop me an email. (mcmullenke@st-barbaras.n-lanark.sch.uk)

Take care!

Primary 6 – Monday 30th March

Good morning Primary 6,

I hope that you all had a relaxing weekend and got a chance to enjoy the sunshine. I sat in the sun below the west tower of my palatial mansion thinking about ways of stopping the wild deer from eating the grass on the smaller of my two tennis courts.

Here is Cressida Cowell reading Chapter 4 of, “How to Train your Dragon.”

After listening to the chapter use what you know about the dragons and the Hairy Hooligan Tribe to describe the perfect viking dragon. What kind of qualities are the Hooligans looking for in their dragons?

You have new spelling, reading and maths challenges up on Sumdog today

The key words for your spelling are

teacher

library

bicycle

necessary

separate

chocolate

lightning

twelfth

ambitious

vegetable

parallel

government

weight

You could write and practise them in your jotter this week to help you online.

There are some new maths challenges of Studyladder too.

Here’s a little brain teaser to get you started today

Mrs. McIntosh bought eye-liner for £4.20, hair conditioner for £5.55 and face cream for £3.79.

How much change did she get from three £5 notes and what coins could she have been paid in?

I tell you the answer tomorrow.

Mr. McIntosh

Monday 30th March- Primary 1b

Good morning boys and girls,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend with your families and managed to get out for some fresh air. The weather has been really nice. I managed to go a long walk each day and enjoyed listening to my music.

Today marks the beginning of your second week of home learning. I was so impressed with how hard you all worked last week so I am sure you will be great this week too! This week I would like you to continue working on your home learning grid. I have also set you two Literacy challenges to complete on Sumdog.

I have made Maths a little more fun by creating a competition on Sumdog. The competition will begin today and it will end at 3 o’clock on Friday. I will post the winner on Friday. Remember, you have to be in it, to win it! Try your best and give it a go!

Remember you can also access Studyladder. Some of you have already emailed me for your username and password. If you haven’t, please feel free to email me and I will send you your details.  lmceleney@st-barbaras.n-lanark.sch.uk

I am missing all of your cheery faces and stories. Keep tweeting me all of your wonderful pictures.

Take care and have a great day,

Miss McEleney

Bake Off!

I promised you all a picture of my victoria sponge and here it is 🙂 I might have got a little bit excited and ate a piece before I took the picture! It was delicious!

Baking is fun and of course tasty! I challenge you to try and bake something next week and post me a little picture 🙂

Now I am off out on a big walk to work off all that cake!

Have a great weekend.

Miss McEleney 🙂
