Who can apply

 

To be eligible for this one off payment of £150 you must:

  • Be a parent or carer with at least one child living at home (they could be over 16 if you are still receiving child benefit for them);

OR

  • Be aged 16-24 yrs. If you are in this age bracket you don’t need to have a child at home to qualify.

In addition, you must:

  • Be a householder*;
  • Have savings of less than £700;
  • Have a net annual income of less than £26,600, (assuming you have a regular income, this is the same as having less than £2,217 per month or less than £511 per week);
  • Be entitled to Council Tax Reduction (we will check this).
    If you do not currently receive Council Tax Reduction, you should still meet with all other criteria and have no recourse to public funds.

Please note any disability benefits (DLA/PIP/AA) are disregarded and not included as income.

*Only 1 application per household please. All applications will be verified via the council tax scheme and any duplicate applications will be rejected.

When and how to apply

Applications will be accepted from 13 January 2022. The deadline will be 7 February at 5pm. The form will be removed after this time.

When successful applicants will receive the payment

The process of making payments to successful applicants will begin during the third week in February.

Additional support for applicants

Applicants will also be offered free support and assistance from our team of experts within the council and our partner agencies.  You will be asked if you would like to speak to someone about your benefits, debt advice and budgeting. You will also be offered advice on how stay warm while reducing your energy costs.

Could you be entitled to our one off fuel payment?

North Lanarkshire are launching this fund to help people who are particularly likely to be “feeling the pinch” this winter.

The fund is part of Scottish Government’s contribution to support people during the pandemic.  It is a limited pot of money which means that the council may have to close the scheme early if demand exceeds the level of funding available.
