Tuesday 31st March 2020

Good morning P5. Let’s make the most of our day today.

Please spend a short time working towards challenges set on Sumdog, First News and Studyladder. Have you completed some tasks from your grid? Select  a challenge that you think you might enjoy for today.
I have added this week’s spelling words to Sumdog Spelling. Please spend time revising focus words.

I have signed up to a fabulous maths resources that we will be using in the coming weeks called Rigour Maths. This resources will provide you with video teaching clips for second level concepts in maths. You simply watch the clip, record examples and try the challenges set in your jotter. You must pause the clip as you work on the set examples. Next week I will also provide you with an online textbook page that will go along with the learning clips. For today I would like you to familiarise yourself with the online clip about negative numbers. To access the clip simply cut and paste/ copy the address below into the URL at the top of your search page. https://youtu.be/a5fhef4uV9Y
Please let me know how you get on with this activity by replying to this post.

If you have Lego at home perhaps you will enjoy today’s engineering challenge:
EYE LEGO Engineering Design Challenge: Amazing Mazes
Challenge: Create a maze that a marble can run through including turns, tunnels, and dead ends to make the maze difficult to navigate.
Engineering Goals:
The maze must have a defined start point and end point. Make sure that you make a plan before you build, just like an engineer would!
Engineers make plans before they build, but those plans often change and evolve during the design process. Good luck!

Try to get your body moving today. How many of each exercise can you do in one minute: squats, star jumps, sit ups, push ups, burpies?

I would love to see more pics of your home activities on St Barbara’s Twitter page.

Please spend some quiet time today and say a Hail Mary and an Our Father for all NHS workers.

If you have any questions, please get in touch. Feel free to send me an email to tell me what you have been learning: louisehaughey@st-barbaras.n-lanark.sch.uk.

Stay safe and keep smiling. Mrs H x
